Nothing will change whilst we have a gutless, elitist, dishonest turd of a NRL CEO who has many skeletons in his closet. Whilst he values sucking up to the games elite as opposed to exposing corruption nothing will change

I know you have it in for Greenberg, but you’re kidding yourself if you think what’s happening is of his creation. This rubbish was going on long before he took over.

What’s the commission doing who has the power to oust him?

If the Roosters were found out to be cheating (which I doubt), would that mean Tedesco losing his Dally M's? as he achieved this whilst playing for a corrupt club and in a team found to be cheating/getting a leg up.

Obviously premierships stripped too.

I think that is the point Knox was making....they are not cheating just pushing all the boundaries and grey areas to the limit and the NRL are the baddies because they are not willing to get rid of the grey areas.
People from all clubs have to start emailing the NRL and saying we want change or we are walking away from the game. The NRL are a reactionary organisation, they only do things when they are pushed

Mate I’m not saying he created it. But he’s currently charged with the responsibility of running the game. And yes I do have it in for him because I think he’s corrupt and gutless.
Look how he went with popular opinion early this year when referees were trying to take control. Instead of backing them - when they were following his directive, he came out publicly and chastised his hem. How gutless and spineless was that?!!

Nothing

The funny thing in recent years it’s Parra, us and the Sharks who have fell foul of the salary cap auditors.

It’s like the ATO busting a guy on 40 grand a year for making false dry cleaning claims and letting a bent company director on a squillion go without even a audit.

It’s the people who run the system who stink not the people who rort

Of course this is the way they do it. Look at who is connected to the rooters.
Politis
Bouris
Packer
Gyngell
Et al
For example, Luke Rickettson is now the Sports and Leisure Executive at GSA Insurance Pty Ltd. - sounds like a nice gig....

Finally an article has shone a light on this issue of inequality with the NRL competition, one that the corridors of power in the NRL need to consider its impact on the longer term health of the competition and its overall supporter base.

Over the past 20 years we’ve mostly had either the Roosters or Storm playing in the grand final, and I for one am relieved we don’t have another Roosters v Storm grand final like last year, and we have the Raiders with all their colour and excitement rise to the occasion.

The cycle of clubs experiencing success is critically important to the wellbeing of the code, and the game has had some fantastic stories in recent years with the Cowboys and Sharks experiencing their maiden premierships, and both Dragons and Souths winning the title again after many decades. It’s vital this diversity and cycle of experiences continues and the games doesn’t fall into too familiar patterns of certain clubs being successful through particular types of inequalities that are highlighted in this article.

Beautiful analogy and so true.

Let me add perspective to my frustration:

I have 2 close mates that I spend a lot of time with - both Rorters supporters. They are dear friends but their arrogant swagger as they head towards back to back premierships is sickening. I just can’t wish them luck because it’s all garbage - their team cheat!! It’s driving me crazy!!
One mate offered my wife and I tickets to go with him to the game. I told him to stick them up his...

The problem with the NRL is the lack of elite talent. The NFL has elite talent all over the league through the draft. Every team has big support and large markets. The teams that win are the best coached and best quarterbacked who draft and develop talent. The Patriots historically have inferior talent all over the park they win because of Belichick and Brady, they draft well and don’t pay much.

The NRL has limited talent therefore when the clubs with best rosters, off field support, exposure in the corporate world to help friends, family wives, girlfriends, side businesses, property investments etc. like the Roosters approach they get the players. If there was depth of talent that wouldn’t matter.

NBA has the same issue with Golden State Warriors and formation of super teams by players started by Lebron.

The NRL won’t be around in 15 years as a major competition. It won’t last it’s the most imbalanced competition that has a salary cap I can think of in terms of talent distribution.

I know its petty but it grinds my gears. In between breaths salivating for the man, I wish just once a commentator would put a caveat on Smiths 400 games and his 300 game wins they always carry on about, by saying "legal games played, 250, legal winning games 150"

@GNR4LIFE True, Greenburg is just a pawn. It's the News Limited and the Politis' that run the game and everyone knows it.

It's exactly like the Roosters are one of those American fraternity secret societies. And their power extends so far, (like News Limited and Brisbane/Storm) even Toddy is under their thumb.

Pathetic.

A few Paragraphs from Malcolm Knox SMH today-Worth reading it all.

You get the picture of all the ways a player can benefit without touching the salary cap. If someone associated with the Roosters, say, *cough* Nick Politis, says to a player, say *cough* Cooper Cronk, "I’ll make sure you’re looked after when your career is over, I’ve got mates who can help you with your MBA, whatever you want to do with your life, you’ll be taken care of", that’s not a breach of the salary cap rules. In fact, under the education exemption, they can pay for three years at Harvard, if that’s what a player wants.

Or if someone says, "I’ve got a mate who’s a big fan of yours who would love you at our club", old mate can give the player and his family unlimited benefits for the rest of their lives. All the player has to do is trust the person who is insinuating the offer in the first place. *Cough*.

I'm not saying this isn't happening , but in doing that you are leaving yourself open to having someone asking for the world and if Politis doesn't provide it they spill the beans .....

So when he dies, so do the Roosters?

In any event, this type of thing shouldn't be allowed, could be a bit hard to enforce though

It's not only Politis there are a bunch of Millionaires on the Rorters board.

@Harvey True the Broncos have struggled to provide anyone to string enough words together to pass as a commentator in their history. A game of Words with Friends between Parker/Hodges v Gasnier /Anasta would take a while.

The roosters are very smart on who they invite onto their board. There's nothing they are doing thst we couldn't be doing. He talked about paying for Harvard, that exemption is available to all clubs.

@gallagher Yes, they invite people who know how to keep their mouth shut-a valuable asset.

Also types who enjoy bathing in reflected glory even if they haven't been lifelong supporters.
