Refershing to watch.. type of young man/men we need

Thanks for sharing...that was great!

I feel like Harry brushes off the question because he doesn’t want headlines about it. Probably told to do it, he made one half comment about going back to storm and it was in the news all week

He definitely is. But sheesh you’d think we’d put him up in better accommodation if we were trying to impress him! 😜

Paul Kent (not reliable but has a good point) reckons that maybe Grant could go back next year to Storm but if he isn’t considered as first choice hooker throughout the year he could return in 2022.

The big issue for Melbourne is even if Cam retires they got 2 rep level hookers that both have said they want to be in the hooking role when Cam is done. I can’t imagine that one of them would want to play out of position or play a 20 minute bench cameo. We have the advantage of Maguire coaching Brandon in the kiwi squad and Harry already being on loan to the club.

We can’t say that either would 100% pick us over other teams if they were to explore options...but it would surely be a head start on what other clubs have to offer whoever was the odd man out. One of these 2 will not be starting hooker and will probably want that role. Adam Hartigan and the recruitment team have hopefully identified this and are actively working in the market around it (depending on Liddle/Simpkins development)

If he leaves the end of this year, he won’t be back. There will be a dozen other clubs who will become interested if he chooses to leave Melbourne.

Harry Grant officially leading the Dally M voting. Storms third choice hooker is beating storms first choice hooker in the rankings 😂

It’s such a flawed system really. If he was at roosters storm or eels he probably has barely any points. Since there’s media hype about him he’s more likely to get points as well, Aloiai has barely any because he’s not a known name despite being on of our best

While a rookie winning the Dally M medal would be incredible (wearing our jersey no less) it would not bode well for us. It would only make Melbourne even more unlikely to give him any kind of release. Especially given how they wouldn’t release JAC. I mean he’s already made enough of an impact that Melbourne probably would not give him up, but the Dally M medal would be the cherry on top.

Going at least a couple of weeks into the finals with a bog average squad and room to move on that next year might be attractive. I would say Bulldogs and Broncos both have much better rosters in terms of talent they have on the books, but obviously there is something seriously wrong with the balance of the teams and/or coaching. Madge is doing pretty well with an inherited roster, there aren't many sides whose roster is worse than ours.

He goes to Melbourne with the Dally M medal, other talented players see WTs as a viable destination.

Hope we can keep Harry, but the bloke can name his price at the moment. It won't be easy.

If we want to be in the running, we're probably going to need to free up a lot of our cap. Could even mean letting someone good go.

He may also see it as he plays his best football under the Wests Tigers system and Madge’s style of play which he openly spoke out about how he plays well bc Madge allows him to back himself and play in front of him - if he goes back to Melbourne and isn’t playing as well or getting the same recognition and attention as he is now (leading Daily M) he may come to the idea he wants to come back in 2022 can sign a contract for 2023 (November next year), doubt Melbourne would want to keep him for the 2022 season if they know he’s signed somewhere else the following year especially with Brandon Smith making it clear he wants that 9 jersey.....

If C Smith plays on then Grant would have to see the writing on the wall. He seems to be appreciating his time here with our club, the fans are showing him their appreciation, and dependent on the young bloke's mentality, he could see himself as the central piece of a team that could do lots of good things over the next ten years if we keep our players settled and improved where we have to. he's the sort of player that others would love to line up alongside.
