Hi Uncle Nick

I don’t need to be harsh but everyone needs to just come to the fact he isn’t going to be here next year he is going back to Melbourne after 2020 and he won’t be staying no matter what, Melbourne have even come out and said even if Cameron smith plays on they want him back I know everyone wants him to stay him back either way, what if the roles were reversed and Liddle was down in Melbourne killing it for the storm you’d want him to come back at the tigers once the year was finished

So stop talking/saying hope he stays and we need to try to keep him

He isn’t staying

Simple truth is nobody knows what will happen to many variables but people can hope that's what forums are for.

Fact (The Pom confirmed) Harry has a release clause. Yes he will return to Melb storm as per loan agreement. Then if Cam Smith plays on then, Harry can trigger the clause if he desires. Then it's a case of if Madge is after him and we can beat the other clubs wanting him.

Won’t happen, Melbourne have said they’ll move cam smith to half to accommodate Harry

Where does that leave Brandon Smith, and Cam at 7 is a massive downgrade than Cam at 9 which was shown times this year as they’ve quickly changed him back to 9 during the game

I think Harry will be back at Melbourne, however I also don’t think there’s any certainties - if Smith plays on I think our chances are increased as his clause comes into play and anything can happen from there....

He knows he plays a good style of football here good enough to be leading the Daily M (disregarding the fact he missed the first 2 games) and contention for QLD hooker role only 8 games in with us with there being uncertainty at Storm if he plays 80mins at hooker every game and if his style of play fits into there structure etc, he might also enjoy the attention and rugby league environment Sydney has to offer which is very different to Melbourne as it’s very AFL dominated, along with the reception he receives from us fans which I’m assuming make him feel wanted and welcomed probs for the first time in his footy career, and we’re probs likely to offer double the cash of what Melbourne would offer maybe even more

So I think it’s fair to say we could be an attractive option for Harry and it could be hard to leave... who knows what will happen only time will tell, we keep playing a good brand of football and he continues to flourish that will only help our chances!

I don't think the clause is whether Cam plays 9, but whether he plays on. I don't think people will stop talking about it just because you stamp your feet.

agree it is not where cam smith plays that is irrelevant if he plays on the clause exists he could olay hooker half fullback Harry will have a get out clause if he wishes and they will have a very unhappy Brandon Smith who would likely leave if Harry comes back

Did he get a boat as well?

Just enjoy Grant while he is here. If he stays another year on loan as has been suggested, that is a bonus. Simpkin looks to be an outstanding player with a complete attacking repertoire. We all know Liddle will enjoy these new rules with his pace so we are well served.

It’s a tough position for both clubs and ultimately the player.
Both clubs fought so hard for the opportunity of a loan system to be made available and I feel everything that is being said and done publicly is to ensure the loan system remains in tact.
Melbourne may be on the same page as us and see more value in keeping Smith / bringing another hooker in to ultimately replace that role however I’m sure before this season their first intention was that Harry is their future and they want him to get some game time which they could not offer consistently at their club, I’m not sure they predicted him to go as well as he is and as a result his value is skyrocketing. Great deal for them at the moment however down the track they will have to cough up with more money. Mind you they’ve been paying Smith 1mil a season for years so I’m sure they’ll manage.
If it was all to flip on it’s head and Harry breaks his contract, signs with us, it all ends up making the loan system a bit of a joke and could even become a loophole for some clubs to use in the future to lure a talent away from another club.
I’m not sure that was our intention either. Madge was clearly looking for a specialist hooker who we could utilise to get us past our injury period until Jake or Jacob can get on the field, otherwise we would of tried to sign Koroisau.

I dont think Melbourne become Melbourne by letting players like Grant go easily. Wests yes, Melbourne no.

JAC even played the family card and they knocked it back. Good organisation built around club first.

Enjoy the year with the kid, hopefully he can guide the team to be near the top half of the comp near the end.
