Harry Grant

Dogs will throw the sink at Grant if he doesnt go back to melbourne... very worried we get shafted

IF Grant were to look elsewhere (other than storm) I can’t imagine why he would go anywhere but here. He already has connections to players, coaching staff and fans etc.

Additionally, dogs may offer big money but as eluded to by @THE_POM we also should have plenty of spare cash laying around courtesy of McQueen, Farah fine, a lot of other dead weight off contract. If Bulldogs were to offer Harry 1M per season and we offered anything remotely close in my opinion he would be keen (presuming he was leaving Storm). Especially with the potential of a top-up come departures from Rusty/Jrey etc.

If they overpay they are just going to hurt themselves in the long term. Foran is a classic example. He is a good player but not worth what he is paid.

Storm after Simpkin

Only if we can keep Harry. If we aren’t then no reason to get rid of Simpkin he’s a prospect

Hope i am proven wrong about Liddle being injury prone Russ

Was watching a recent interview with an NRL physio. He said that people frequently misapply the term "injury prone".

He said that players are injury prone if they keep suffering the same injury, particularly if there is no contact involved; eg, they keep tearing their hammy.

If a player suffers a number of different contact injuries then that does not constitute "injury prone".

Based on the physio's comments, Liddle's injuries are just bad luck.

I totally disagree with this. I understand and agree with the logic of what both you and the physio are saying, that recurring injuries of the same type or body part indicate a specific weakness or prone to that injury, however I think that is overly simplistic.

Humans are all shapes and sizes and right or wrongly, not all shapes and sizes are suited to NRL standard Rugba Leeg. The game consists of explosive running and line changing all the while getting smashed by multiple 100kg+ bodies at speed. Some body types and physiques are going to be better at withstanding this stress and others are not going to be strong enough. The body types that are not strong enough to withstand this are going to be more prone to injury and not necessarily at the same point each time.

Im not necessarily saying Liddle is in this situation, but I do think he is naturally a slight human, however he has done his best and a reasonable job of making himself as big and resilient as he can be.

Everyone is different.

Liddles last injury was a freak accident really. The real concern was his shoulders already had surgery on both of them, looks like he’s bulked up which should help a little. Fingers crossed he can string a few seasons together without major injury

This makes sense. Smith plays on. Simpkin is at least 12 months off first grade so suits Smith/Storm. Simpkin gets 12 months to learn from smith. Grant can stay with us and play first grade and win a comp

If it’s a loan we get an improved Simpkin back and Harry for a year. If it’s a swap we get Harry.

How that would even work because Grant will attract offers from multiple clubs if Smith played on. Dont know how Storm could guarantee us Grant.

this is true, but even when fully fit he's nowhere near as good as Grant. Liddle is a good player but Grant is elite.

It would have to be a swap I would think.
Really good deal for us.
We have Simpkin for 3 more years I think.
Both Hookers would be off contract same time.

Yeah I agree. Grant is a freak

Definitely makes a lot of sense. Not sure how true the rumour is though.
