Harry Grant

Hope Harry gets the big one tonight. Realistically it would have to be him or Nofa as the only strong candidates. Solid glimpses from LL and AD but those two head and shoulders above in my opinion

EDIT - Just seen Nofa got it. Well deserved.

Further to above - if it got to a choice of Liddle or B Smith to play DH - I'll take Liddle every day of the week. If someone had to be let go - it is Simpkin every time for me.

One of the most absurd comments on here. And that's saying something

Wests Tigers hooker Harry Grant has capped off a superb rookie season by taking out the club’s 2020 Rookie of the Year Award at tonight’s end-of-season Presentation Night.

Grant — who joined Wests Tigers ahead of Round 3 for the remainder 2020 season — played 15 of a possible 18 games throughout the season, starting every match at hooker.

The 22-year-old took out the award ahead of fellow youngsters Sam McIntyre and Tommy Talau, who were also recognised for their strong rookie seasons.

Playing in his first full season of rugby league, Grant delivered a number of standout performances for Wests Tigers with eight try contributions and six linebreak assists to go with an average of 82 metres and 49 tackles per game.

He would play the full 80 minutes in all bar five appearances for the club — earning plaudits and praise for his impressive performances that saw him lead the Dally M counting when votes went behind closed doors after Round 11.

As per the original agreement between the two sides, Grant will depart Wests Tigers to return to the Melbourne Storm in 2021.

Wests Tigers would like to congratulate Harry on his award and his superb rookie season!

Marsters and Mikaele both had pretty poor years after winning it. Hopefully Harry fares a little better, with his effort and work ethic he should be fine though

That's a strange comment about Simpkin without seeing him play a game.

Well, I'm just sick and tired of people that want to get rid of Liddle and keep Simpkin without seeing him play a game. People going on hearsay and a short video clip of Queensland Cup.

I needed to try to even up the percentages. Apart from that I think we should keep Liddle.

We have seen Liddle play he isngood but he is not at international level like Brandon Smith and he is not Harry Grant. Simpkin could be anything we do not know, Liddle is exposed for
In horse racing terms Harry is a Group one contender along with Brandon Smith. Simpkin is an unknown he could be a Group 2 or 3 or he could be struggling to win a race in town.
Liddle is exposed he is a Kembla grange type of horse, we know what we get with Liddle, we may be able to generate some interest from the Dogs potentially.
If we miss Harry then let's take Brandon Smith and run with Simpkin as back up

Mate, you just astound me.

That is my opinion Mate - don't like it, don't read it.

Straight from Harry's mouth on stage tonight.

'I won't be at Melbourne next year if Cam plays on'

We’ll see.
What this says to me more than anything is that Harry despite being brought to the club as a loan really has developed an affectionate connection to the club and really probably feels at home here.
Whether it’s the coaching, playing group or a combination of everything. It is great to hear that we are heading in the right direction to creating a club where players want to not only play at, but stay at.

I never said anything about getting rid of Liddle, I just don’t get your comment about Simpkin.

Did he say he would stay at WT? I just get the feeling if Cam plays on Harry will be the no9 for Walters at the Broncos next year.

The whole Bellamy Brisbane 10 year deal thing is interesting in all this

You might have a lot of players with "if Bellyache leaves contracts "

I think you might find Cam goes to Brisbane for a year and ends up a head coach in 2023

I can’t see Walters being a long term solution. Unbelievable how much that club has fallen.

Yeah agree I think Kevie's main role is to bring the various parts of the club back together

If they have on field success as well ...that will be a bonus

Even if Cam plays on we will have to contest with a couple other clubs for his signature and I don’t see us being able to throw huge amounts at him for next season.

Cameron won’t announce anything until after grand final probably

We would need to find 800 k of salary cap space damn fast

Agree. Possibly the strongest competition for his signature will come from the Titans. They’ve signalled their intentions by not re-signing Peats, and Rein hasn’t played 80 min all season.

Depends who he surrounds himself with. You don't have to be the worlds greatest coach if you have good assistants and can bring everyone together. I think Kev knows it too and is going very hard for quality help. Heard Neil Henry mentioned somewhere.

what would we get for Liddle ? $350k I dont really know but that is money we can put towards Harry and have Simpkin on a small contract.

It is good to hear. I'd be hoping if he does return to Melbourne he'd share his wisdom with Brandon Smith so if Cam goes Brandon will have a high opinion of us based on Harry's experience.

I'd be dribbling over myself if Cam played on and we got both Harry and B Smith.
