Harry Grant

If Simpkin is as good as reports say he may well get a SOO bench spot in years to come, how old is Grant 22, Simpkin 19.
Liddle won't play origin because he has good players in front of him and likely a good player behind him too that will overtake him
Nofo didn't get a mention in origin because Fitler can see he has had one good year and 6 bad ones and he has some defensive issues. If Nofo has a good year in 2021 then maybe a chance at a wing spot.

Love it, Love it, love it.

Hasn't played ONE NRL game but you have him playing SOO.

Oh! if only you had to dream, for them to come good.

I'd just be happy to see Liddle play the best part of 80 minutes three games in a row so we can gauge what he is capable of, because until he is able to do that all the talk in regard to Liddle/Simpkin is still premature.

doubt Liddle will ever play origin
Grant will
Simpkin probably will.
don't be upset Russ whe Simpkin takes Liddles starting spot in a year

hope he does because that will mean he is one helluva footballer.

Liddle won’t play because he has players like Cook in front of him,
And Koroisau on the come up. And origin is ? about incumbency. Robbie played for 2 seasons too long . So did Ennis before him .
It will have very little to do with talent IMO. Look at Nofa . Best winger in the comp , didn’t even get a mention , outside of a passing scoff .

I think Nofa's height will always be his achilles heel as far as SOO selection goes

I totally get that and agree with you . But is it in actuality a truism ? Or just perception, and he could totally prove to be a gun origin player . It doesn’t really matter because he won’t be given the opportunity no matter how well he plays . Fittler has his regeneration a few years back , even though the mantra at the time was best player picked , he won’t and can’t chose like that , because he will have loyalty , and tried and true biases . Which is human nature right . That’s my point . Liddle will have to turn into the best player in the world to get that 9 jersey . If grant stays , because he’s filling the Cam smith vacuum he just doesn’t have the same level of expectations . Mbye is case in point of this . Qld operate differently . They pick who they think . We always have picked the shiniest toy .

I'd be happy to see Soggy Sao A.K.A. Liddle get through a season before I think he is a good replacement for Harry Grant. You Russell seem to think he is as good as Grant or we won't miss a beat with Liddle rather than Grant in the team.
The origin thing with Simpkin is a bit pie in the sky given how good Grant is but I stand by in my opinion Simpkin will be a better footballer than Liddle and will be our starting hooker from 2022 so we won't need Liddle

The wraps on Farah and benji coming through were spot on along with the wraps on Harry Grant I dare say the wraps on Simpkin and Sualli to that matter are pretty spot on too.

I have no doubt that Grant is already a better player than Liddle, however Liddle did show a bit more durability this year and will be better for the off season. Between him and Simpkin I think we will be OK at hooker. If Grant is available should we have a crack? IMO absolutely.

I was one of many expressing doubts and concerns regarding Liddle, particularly his durability and ability to come back from his latest injuries. I was very impressed with him this year. Coming back from a tough long term injury, under the glare of the Grant spotlight and he looked good. In the few times that he moved to hooker, I dont think our dummy half game dropped off.

Notwithstanding future injuries, I think Liddle will serve us well.

You are aware that the forum had no say in whether Grant stays or not right? Yet you insist on throwing it in everyone’s faces about how good Grant is and what we’re losing. We get it. It wasn’t the forum who decided he had to go back to Melbourne. We’re just making the best of it, putting faith in Liddle who did show positive signs this year. You probably shouldn’t have gotten attached to Grant. It was never going to end well.

I loved that we had Harry for this year,he showed true grit in a rookie year,he did have an injury that sidelined him but he came back and ended the season well..
He did justice to the WTs colours and I thank him for that..in having said that and we must be fair,if Jacob had not had horrendous injuries early in his starting NRL career he could possibly be as good as Harry is now,it is just the cards that are dealt at the time...
Im going to say that Jacobs return to the NRL arena this year was very promising and I dare say if injuries dont come his way next year he will perform at another level again...I have faith in JL to turn around a terrible couple of years through injury and become the rightful 9 we always expected him to be after Farah left..

Just don't think Liddle is worth an extension given injury etc we have Simpkin and can likely put Liddle money elsewhere.
I do get a bit sick on hear some people saying we will not lose anything with Liddle over Grant that is ridiculous.
Agree in making best out of a bad situation would rather Simpkin kicks on ahead of Liddle and hope Simpkin turns out to be another Harry Grant

Carrying one hooker in a squad of 30 is ridiculous, especially considering it’s the toughest (imo) and most important position on the field

Have absolutely no issue with Liddle being our starting #9 next year and I believe he will be, but with his injury history we definitely need a back up or two just to be safe

I think Mbye and Walters are going to have to be used in the hooking spot as well. Liddle to me gets the spot but there is no way that you can rely on Liddle/Simkpins all season. I wouldn't recruit a new hooker and I'd rather JAC or Sualli as a big purchase than Grant due to the make up of our team.

💯 agree

Good chance Harry wins Dally M rookie of the year - could even win Hooker of the year or even player of the year

Oh 100%

Just don’t get the Liddle bashing from certain people

In his first game back this year after being rattled from injuries, he made over 100 running meters and 40+ tackles, I also think his passing is the best in the club. Surely the sky is the limit if he can stay injury free

Probably Api for hooker of the year considering where penrith ended up, I wouldn’t bank on him winning ROTY either, Chricton has had a pretty amazing year too

Probably come down to Harry , Fogarty and Crichton from Penrith in my opinion

Grant to me is a proven quality NRL player whereas Liddle isn't just yet. The thing is Liddle has a really nice pass and he is quick. He could be a really good player.

Earl is right ...he needs a 20 + game season before you can make a call .....you need to see what happens once fatigue kicks in
