@Telltails said:Interesting that many on this forum who complain about accepting mediocrity and having a losing culture, mismanagement, no funds to buy marquee players and upgrade facilities, the inequity of the competition due to the cashed up clubs, the failure of the joint venture over a period of years etc - are approached by a multi billionaire who loves the game and wants this club to succeed as a united team- and suddenly what we are is worth persisting with. Go figure . I wonder when the next multi -billionare will come along who wants to buy Wests Tigers - never.

Martin Koukash will be interested. But i suspect some here only want to sell to Harry for some reason thats not related to balmain.

@littletiger said:Hardly anyone cares about wests hence why nrl won't allow the name change.
@Magpie Magic said:Thank you for your kind words.
Seems no one from the Wests side likes this idea and everyone from the Balmain side does give or take.
This is important to many people.
Who are you to judge this.
I for one have put up with to much change for " the good of the game "and want no more.
A JV with a private owner is problematic.
He could buy Balmains stake or be involved heavily on board level and that would make us successful.
A takeover is not required.

I'm ex Balmain and pretty well agree with this, so let's be fair, there are a lot like me that don't want private ownership, regardless of who it may be.
For mine the ball Is in Harry's court. If he truly has the passion that he claims to have for his old club and its supporters, then he should give it to the side to play with, else he can choose to tuck it under his arm and mope all the way home.
@batboy said:@Tiger Watto said:Does the membership base at WA really want to be involved in an NRL Franchise anymore?
From the outside, I wouldnt be surprised if the majority of members are no longer aligned to the 'Football Retric' and are more supportive of growing its acquisitions of licensed clubs.
I highly doubt the NRL will support Harry simply buying Balmains share. They would aggressively be encouraging a 100% ownership model moving forward.
The other interesting scenario is how much is a NRL sporting franchise worth, considering the future forecast in revenue has just increased under the new TV Rights? This alone has an improved value!!!
I think Rusty paid about 3 Million for the Rabbitohs wasn't it?
in 2006ish?
@littletiger said:Tripple m just said the sale to Harry won't happen because harry would have to buy out wests and wests are not looking to sell.

Like it or not, we are not valued anywhere near to the Souths brand. So uncle Harry could pull off a bargain.

Magpies. Surely they don't have a big fan base.

Everyone has their price mate …. Of course they'd say that.
Up to this point Harry has only said he is considering buying out the Wests Tigers ..... Let's see him put some cold hard cash on the table for the NRL and Ashfield to have a think about.
$5m may be a good starting point ..... $2.5 m would repay the NRL and see them off the board. Is $2.5m enough for Ashfield to accept .... I doubt it but it's a good starting point.
Come on Harry .... Let's see some dollars on the table
