HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

I applaude your caution around the sensitivities, but anyone who remembers eiither foundation club has had the same amount of time to adjust. Management and fans included. 25 years is a long time to hold a grudge. Not long enough it seems for some.
Honestly, I think people don't really care anymore.

Seriously the vote at the time for Balmain was 92-4 from memory. It was only the "boxing Tiger" who really objected. Wests supporters saw the writing on the wall and understood their team needed to merge.

Not saying were not proud Magpies or proud Balmain supporters. The people are still there and that's still awesome. It's just time to move on and cheer for the Wests Tigers. There will be no demerger, if Wests Tigers is removed, both teams will be gone.

IF you want to ask a question, ask this one. Does anyone think the Perth Bears is really North Sydney Bears?
Seriously anyone. Their culture is gone, the team has been out for 20+ years and they will be lucky to get an ex Norths player involved (wait, that's probably Jason Taylor, ok Unlucky).

I’m not mate just trying to see things clearly. For the record I am pro Wests Tigers, I work with the club, my kids wear Wests Tigers jerseys & we have a platinum family membership. I’m just trying to see both sides.
Apologise if that is the case but it certainly seemed like you were leaning very much towards the HBG.
To most, I would think, it seems they are the ‘bad guys’.

So if they weren't taken to board level, why fire the board?
I assume that will be part of the PVL investigation.
If he finds that the board members dismissals were unjustified, I am confident he will take appropriate action and rightly so.
What happens if he finds the dismissals were justified?
There will be a lot of people with egg on their face if that is the outcome.

So you still think its a shame the Magpies won their court case and got re-admitted back in 1983 then? Are they still hapless small time boobs? Or have they improved in your eyes since Monday?
I still believe that Wests Magpies Ashfield/ HBG should have nothing to do with the running of the Wests Tigers. I would like to see them stripped of their license and or forced to sell. I still think that any and all HBG Directors who want to try and bring about the reintroduction of the Wests Magpies at the expense of the Wests Tigers should, as I have now done, get over themselves and move on. I strongly believe that the board of HBG are hapless, small-time boobs. So, yes.

for giggles - hbg threw denny under the bus as a scape goat, say they got it all wrong. He mislead them.
Reinstate the board, Everty thing is humming along .
How long into 26 would anyone trust HBG to not spit the dummy again ?
All corporate trust and best intentions, if there ever was have been lost towards hbg and will take an eternity to regain any trust. I Fear 4 my clubs future ,and those $100 wankers don't earn the right to tweak my emotions

Some people really don't understand the gravity of the situation here.
Burgess has declared war on Wests Tigers. There are two ways this can turn out.
1. Burgess and HBG win. Richos resigns, Benji leaves, half our playing squad leave and the club itself is an absolute shambles. Denny takes this opportunity to rebrand to the Wests Magpies.

2. The members, fans and media protest is loud enough to get the NRL's attention and they step in and place the club under administration, stopping HBG from cannibalizing it's own club. Then hopefully Denny is removed and hopefully HBG can be forced to sell their license.

Whether the joint venture remains or not is irrelevant. No one cares about they stuff anymore. We are the Tigers and Wests, from Leichhardt and Crown. That won't change, all that will change is who pays the bills and how much they chip in. It sure didn't hurt the Dogs.

The protest happening next Saturday's is absolutely huge in the context of the future of our club. It almost depends upon it.

I know for a fact that Richo isn't leaving just yet, but his fate is in our hands, and that of the NRL. We must act, in huge numbers. The time is now.

No WT fan can ever truly feel comfortable while HBG and the debenture system stays in place, especially after the what’s just happened. Our long term survival is entirely dependent on an administrator being appointed and Liquor and Gaming NSW investigating and sacking the board.

If the board dismissals were unjustified how does Burgess or the HBG win ?
It’s not possible is it ?

Sums it up nicely although regardless of what happens, HBG can’t truly win anyway because the Magpies are never coming back to the NRL. Which makes this whole stunt by them so pointless and disgusting.
Yep exactly....but some people are that spiteful if they cant have what they want then others not having what others want make them feel better.
Misery merchants the lot of em

Im sure many old magpies like myself are embarrased and ashamed of whats happening.
I feel like ive been conned, swindled and ripped off by the club I used to support

My old man and his mates at Ashy pub were right...WA didnt give a shit about the football club in the 70s and they dont now

What did they use to say mate ? What was the vibes ? I’ve never heard this rhetoric before .

If it gets to a point where Richo leaves and the nrl doesn't respond then we are truly stuffed
If Richo walks with or without N.R.L help were stuffed imo. He's made mistakes but in his around 2 years he started turning the place around, if he leaves, being one of the most experienced operators in the game, who would want to takeover, any operator we get will just be a slave to HBG and what they want, no one of any decent standing would do that.

What's the chances Richo does leave?
Every day that passes with radio silence others see as a bad omen but I see it the complete opposite, he could be in the background working behind the scenes to try and sort this garbage out with HBG or with the N.R.L / N.S.W liquor and gaming. He could be negotiating a payout with HBG to leave quietly but I couldn't see him needing to do that. I think he's too smart and would have stipulated his terms for being CEO. I'm hopefull that if he was going to go he would have done it today and is working behind the scenes trying to resolve this mess. I could be way off the mark though but he's been around way too long and we cannot afford to lose him. He is the most valuable thing at Wests Tigers. Even if we need to start another rebuild from scratch he's done it plenty and knows what needs to be done. If he goes were anchored to the bottom 2 for another decade.

Silence is golden they be crunching the numbers in the back room, tick tick tick

Why would you ask me or anyone else to clarify what Paton stated, he’s the one stating it, nobody else.
You choose to believe he’s telling lies, good on you, but doesn’t mean anyone else has to conform to your views.
What are you going to do if PVL finds that there was an acceptable reason for the board members dismissals ?
The question is how are they independent if they were chosen by HBG and can be removed by HBG? There's nothing independent about it. You can't vote out the debenture holders...that's the source of the problem entirely.

No one decent would want to work under the present conditions and with our track record.

This will not only affect our ability to recruit decent management, it will absolutely affect our ability to sign players...we're back where we started prior to the positive changes over the last 18 months.

As the viewpoint of an outsider, I remember saying about a decade ago that the owners don’t care about winning football games.
They enjoy the prestige of owning a club and the traffic that funnels into their hospitality network.
Some of them hold fantasies of a Magpie resurgence but it’s not their primary driver I suspect.
It must still be a positive strategic decision otherwise a smart operator would have sold the joint ages ago.
