HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

Mate I hate to be the bearer of bad news but our whole season has already been derailed before it started thanks to this BS.
Wait till Luai walks out the door followed by Bula and if they spear Marshall the club will implode that will be the time the NRL steps in and takes the license off the HBG.

And finally, Wests and Balmain will be dead and buried and sadly so will WT.

I agree apart from WT being dead. WT have a fan base...these fans are lost if the NRL does that. They will simply force a sale to new owners and WT will continue.

If want more, here's what Gemini thinks about recent actions compared to parramatta being dismissed.

The Parramatta case serves as a direct precedent for the current HBG situation. The ultimate reason for the Parramatta board's sacking was that it had "ceased to be effective as a governing body"—a core requirement of the Registered Clubs Act 1976.

The current turmoil at HBG—with directors suspended for misconduct and the majority owner sacking four independent directors over internal disputes—is the very definition of a board that is not stable or effective, making it a very similar issue to the one that triggered the most severe regulatory action against Parramatta.

Parramatta had a laundry list of breaches of the act from directors on the licensed club board. The chair himself waved a white flag and asked the regulator to step in.

HBG standing down directors on the board of a completely different private entity that they own is not the same thing.

L&G themselves came out with a very carefully worded statement, the subtext being that they couldn't care less what's going on at Wests Tigers Pty Ltd.

I've also heard that Tommy R is planning to roll over in his grave if HBG aren't stopped.

I have only ever known the team as the Wests Tigers. Yet people are calling me a weak supporter for saying i won't support the Magpies if what we fear is going to happen comes into being. Why should I support a team that i have no affiliation with as it was before my time?

Indeed, and I will almost certainly join you if it is allowed to happen.

Id suggest everyon stop jumping to conclusions, take a deep breath and just be prepared to play the waiting game.
Unless theres a 4.55pm friday media drop somewhere...just chill
Thwres a lot of nasty shit elsewhere and a fair bit here late at night no doubt with some lubricated assistance

Only 2 suits me V

1) They have had decades to get it right and their time is up, just blunder after blunder.
3) If we get moved and merged again in another state that's the last straw for me our identity will be diluted even more, too hard to come to terms with.
East Brisbane Tigers
they already have the Firehawks bid with Richo, would just basically be a name change

so high and mighty - you mentioned balmain yourself - you wouldn't be interested in the club unless their is some part of balmain attached -

"Honestly , as long as there’s a tie to Balmain , so something I can cling to"
And that's the crux of the matter, Lestronge admitted he needs "something I can cling to".
And that's once again, a natural reaction to the possibility of losing something you love.
He and all the other Balmain aligned people are simply lashing out at anyone who doesn't have the same opinion as theirs.

Mate, you are so right. There is so much about this whole saga that is not in the public domain and probably won't ever make it in. The situation is a lot worse than all of us know and a lot of it involves the Richo issue which has only come to light in the last day or so. I doubt if the Richo situation is salvageable and I'm a fan of his. He apparently has treated WT as his own personal treasury. I'm not saying he's done anything illegal but, in terms of corporate governance, he's sailing very close to the wind.
I don't know where it all ends up but it's hard to imagine the end result looks much like it does today. I only hope for all of us that WT emerges better than it is today.

Part of the response I received

The Club has been advised of a change in our Board structure by the Holman Barnes Group. As you can appreciate, the details of this change are still being worked through and will be finalised following the Club’s scheduled Board Meeting in December.
