HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

As of now it appears the vast majority of our players are more than happy with Benji as their coach.
Our best chance of getting some stability within our playing roster was to lock in on Benji and make all the players aware he is with us long term.
I’ve stated many times I am not overly impressed with the playing roster we currently have, but it’s decent, has plenty of potential and it would be a total disaster if we started looking for a new coach and had a mass player exodus because of it.
For these reasons we had virtually no other choice other than to go all in with Benji and hope it pays off.
Benji’s strength is no doubt his strong connection and bond with most of the playing group, particular the ones on his favoured list.
That’s not uncommon, human nature says a coach will always get along better with the players on his favoured list that are playing regularly and in a happy state of mind.
The challenge for Benji and an area where I feel he needs to continually improve is his relationships with our fringe players and the ones that are out of favour in regards to form or team selection.
This is an area where the master coaches such as Bennett have always excelled and it quite often pays dividends with struggling or unknown players often excelling when given an opportunity.
The only reason that stability was needed was because HBG caused the instability in the first place. Benji is the least credentialed coach in the competition & he's now locked in for the next 5 years Lol. More brilliant work by the Holman Barnes Group.

Mate, if it’s a business ... they kick both Leichhardt & Campbelltown to the gutter. Play all games at one of the big stadiums and charge less to get bigger crowds
We have committed to the suburban grounds for the next 15 years, which puts the home ground discussion into a clear context.

Not sure I'm a fan of playing in empty stadiums just so a few struggling families can go to the footy though.

Honestly, if you can't afford $27 for your kid once in a while, how would making the ticket $10 or $15 make any difference? That family has bigger problems that can't be solved by a cheap kids footy ticket.

People want a profitable club, great facilities and the resources to compete with the big guys as long as it doesn't affect their pocket and someone else is paying bill. The handout entitlement is astounding.

So the families with kids and say lower income to the home means no footy for the kids , trial games should be cheap , gold coin donation in the past , but today I feel $ 10 for a kid is tops it’s a trial and only a few top graders will play specially the first one

Yep, the NRL cashing in on what used to be a very cheap game.

Think about what you're actually saying. You want everyone else to fund all the facilities and entertainment and whatever other costs are involved so parents don't have to pay.

As a parent, you are responsible for the cost of your own kids. It's not the responsibility of a business to fund that.

I challenge you to put your own money down for a business and run it at a loss so others can enjoy it a virtually no cost.

It's a logic vs emotion argument.

People also complain about having to pay for Fox or Kayo. Price of jerseys. You name it, they complain. The price is what it is for a reason. Not to block kids from watching footy.

To quote Richo, from not so long ago - before he unfortunately stepped on the club rake (no not Api) ...

SM didn’t commit past 2029 in the recent pod, adding more weight to the influence that played in December ructions.

Yes I noted that as well
All grounds should be fully available but may not be ‘preferred’ by HBG going forward.

Nothing will likely change re the availability of Campbelltown and Leichhardt. Should be evenly split + magic round. But then again maybe not 🤔

Reckon that’s why the hot rid of Richo, they couldn’t hide behind him as their whipping boy.
They’ve been magicians in appointing people to take the brunt of their failings for them - JT, Pascoe, Madge, Lee - now Benji…

They know he’ll be an easy target and take the media heat for them. The journos won’t give the HBG rats up - because they’re a life source for them…

The whole thing has stunk since they punted Sheens.

True, but your point doesn't prove that sacking 4 board members, regardless of how many remain sacked, will affect the players performance on the field, which was the point you were arguing against.

Just trying to get clarity on what you are trying to argue.
Whilst the HBG board may be (should be) somewhat distant from the team and players, the Wests Tigers board will be engaging with them quite regularly, both at a social and professional level. The comparison I know a bit about is the Roosters board, you hear glowing praise from the players in relation to the board members and how wonderful and supportive they are, even after Terrel got punted by the roosters he is still very positive about the board members there. Now the reality is that not every board will be like the roosters, however that is what we should be aspiring to, its one of the main reasons players want to play there and want to stay there, they get support and mentoring from these people as most of them are successful business people with significant influence.....so in summary, yes a board makes a big difference and players are aware of it. Does it affect their performance on the field...I believe it does, especially considering the fact that in high performance environments the 1%ers can be the difference between a premiership and the wooden spoon. In the specific case of the 4 directors being sacked, we don't know how engaged the team was with the independent directors maybe they were mentoring a couple of team members, maybe they were giving them some business or life advice or maybe they weren't, however i will argue that a stable and competent board will make a difference to the clubs performance including players on the field.
