They have proven that an independent board is not acceptable - but until we know the makeup of the new board we don't know if the selection of candidates against the skills matrix has been done. If they have the right skills and attitude I really don't care if they are HBG or independent. If the "pool of talent" is only debenture holders then we probably have an issue to contend with.

HBG's previous behaviour indicates that it will be jobs for the blazer brigade; however, I trust that the NRL has issued some clear guidance that will have them more focussed on results than and another blazer and free meals for the debenture holders.

It is their toy set, I hope we see them put more of the broken toys like Burgess aside.

💯 This is the only way to go imo. A skilled board will not get every call right but odds are more in their favour for it to happen

Need to remove the us and them narrative

Are you sure the NRL owns the brand name "West Tigers"?

I think this would be owned by Wests Tigers Football Club Pty Ltd, and they currently own/hold a licence to compete in the NRL.
 
Damn you guys are still going on about this. Time to accept that they won and are our overlords for now and forever. I expect them to lead us to success. I haven't even smoked any meth today so you know I'm right about this.
 
We need to remember that buying the license/Wests Tigers brand and buying the clubs are different things and this is what creates the complications.

I don’t actually see selling the Wests Tigers as an easy solution that solves much, if anything it could create larger complications & bigger headaches. The benefits are it keeps the model simple with direct focus & but the consequences could be very large and costly. Especially on pathways and footprint etc.

The License is the Wests Tigers
The clubs are Wests Tigers, Magpies & Balmain.

The governance structure is the key as that provides maximum benefit (this would still be required even if sold). New ownership might be great and all but stability and risk increases.

As to people pushing the please explain button like seriously it’s clear as day even at the time the move was to remove Richo & regain control, nothing more or less. As to why given NDA etc are signed we can’t know and that’s business.

We need to move forward, we might not like how things were handled but it’s done & it won’t be reverted anytime soon. If we keep driving division then us fans are not much better than those being called out within HBG.

Seeking governance & pushing for changes is one thing how we go about doing it by disrespecting other fans and parts of our DNA is another.

Let's, for arguments sake, say that HBG are guilty of poor management.

That said, they can be commended for their continued investment in not ONLY Wests Tigers, but Wests Ashfield & BJRLC as well. They don't NEED to invest into Balmain- they chose to, for whatever reason you want to believe.

I made a vague point eons ago & was quickly accused of blaming Balmain...but I'll bring up a point/suggestion again.

The REAL problem at Wests Tigers, as I see it, isn't HBG. It's that HBG (or anyone else- it could have been the other way around) has 90% majority ownership. This is a joint venture with only one side of the venture contributing.

In any business, the bigger contributor will expect bigger say.

There's been a few on here suggest we would be better off bought out by someone new- Laundy was suggested a few times.

That all leads to removing HBG. Some fans want HBG out regardless of new owners or not- funding takes care of itself apparently.

Why has NOBODY suggested that Balmain requires someone to buy it out, and then contribute equal parts to what Wests/HBG contribute to Wests Tigers?

If both JV clubs were to contribute the same amount (or even similar), you could have equal representation from BOTH clubs on the Wests Tigers board. You then get independents to be the difference in voting- could be 1, 3, 5...however many you want to add.


The idea that "HBG out" solves everything assumes that whoever takes over isn't going to have exactly the same 'me first' agenda you accuse HBG of having.

I don't want HBG out. I think they should be encouraged to do more. I also think they shouldn't be in a position to carry the can for Wests Tigers. Any individual (or group) that owns a majority of any board is in a position to manipulate the state of play in their favour.

Fans want HBG out.

I want Balmain in.

PVL, Darcy Do-Little, the CEO, the fans...instead of throwing out what we have, instead focus on getting someone else to buy in. Balmain is ripe for taking over, investing in the juniors, the leagues club- according to a few, running a pokies club is simple, right?

That way, Wests Tigers can have a fair, even board made up of two clubs sharing responsibilities & costs & funding etc.

I don't know of anyone who would want that, in fact am I being presumptuous to suggest the majority don't give a rats about the dinosaur foundation clubs anymore, apart from an insignificant micro group of fossils compared to the Wests Tigers fan base.

Let the old clubs sleep in the layers of rock undisturbed and at peace.

No . . . I'd say not.
The sentiment here has been so one sided, it's really quite pathetic. That's what I'm saying.
From a group of people on here that will say how fair they are, and how there is no longer Wests and Balmain.
But as Chad and I said, the fact that Balmain isn't here takes away so much from a balanced joint venture. If, for instance, Wests had exploded themselves, and Balmain were kind enough to pay their debts, surely you'd see we'd be in the same situation . . . except that the Wests side would be screaming about how small the magpie is on the jerseys, or how the jersey is largely orange colour.
To be honest, I'd rather see what Chad suggested . . . someone funds Balmain to start up again . . . that way we'd hopefully have the balanced board and proper decision making.
Two sets of minds and views, hopefully aimed in the same direction.
But they'd need to totally avoid any person who was originally involved in Balmain's demise, and any ex players that profited from said demise.

I want Wests Tigers set up for success, we tried the model you are suggesting and it failed to provide consistent success.

HBG has failed to stay the course of any decision they have made over the last 10 years during their control. HBG’s directions change as much as the HBG/Wests Tigers boards (thru sackings/payouts)
The only true course adherence for HBG power brokers is the holy grail 🤔
