Multi million dollar deal .......overs in my opinion if true ......a lot to prove yet
They probably upgraded him this year and next. So just say he gets 700k in 28-29 he might be getting extra money this and next year to account for the multi million.

Who knows. Rather this then paying Reynolds, Packer and Mutulino big dollars.

I think there has to be questions on spend mate. If we were smart, this would have been done pre-jerome.

If the amounts were reasonable. Hats off to Shaun and Benji. We'll only know if we struggle with decent depth over the next 4 years.
That's a great point, we have no idea what these contracts are worth.

The best teams of the last 20 years have been built around a core of elite players. The challenge will be to develop players to fill the gaps.
You are talking about two different things:

1. Building a team around a core group of elite players
2. Paying overs

The Storm and Panthers have been the benchmark for years and neither pay overs, for anyone.

I take your point.

Fairly sure guys like Cleary and Yeo aren’t on loose change.

What we need is guys like Bula & Samuela to keep improving so the overs aren’t actually bad deals.

Pretty good signs going forward noting the following are locked in for a while:

1. Bula
2. Turuva
3. May
4. Maka
5.
6. Douhei
7.
8. Terrell
9. Api
10.
11.
12. KPP
13. Twal

Latu and Sam next cabs off the rank.
Logan Brookes was named as wing for magpies for this weekend.... I know he's usually fullback, but is he our star winger in the next year or two???

Look, lets review:

Yes the Storm and Panthers are the Benchmarks NOW and now they are not paying overs.

Then, however I recall a huge contract for Nathan Cleary.

Also the Storm did make massive contracts for Cronk, Slater, Ingles and Smith. They just ignored the cap.

Their initial recruitment strategies involved one thing.
Pay overs for a decent halfback!
Later, they could offer unders.
