Heamasi Makasini

Big Mak has actually been more impressive than I thought he would be so soon playing NSW Cup.
Our dilemma and we certainly love a dilemma here at Wests Tigers, with the emergence of Taylan May at his preferred left centre position and with Makasini also having a strong preference in playing left centre, how do we plan to best fit them both into our NRL team ?
When playing NSW Cup in the same team Makasini moved to right centre and seemed to do ok, but certainly didn’t look as comfortable as he generally does on the left.
Do we start Makasini off in his NRL career as a left winger outside of Taylan May ?
Do we possibly move Skelton to the right wing with Turuva at right centre ?
Or do we try Skelton at right centre ?
I know we are in no great hurry, but it does seem inevitable that Makasini will make his NRL debut soon, so the above questions would have to start being discussed .

i think they’ll start him on the wing next to may at left centre, it’s good for the club to have the depth but unfortunate for skelton as I don’t think he’s done enough to be “dropped” per say

masi learning the ropes defensively will be helpful with luai & taylan next to him from the penrith system

What they could do is actually play May at wing and masi at centre on the left, while May had an absolute stormer yesterday he played most of his footy at Penrith at winger so that could work

This is exactly what will happen.

Many players in the NRL are not playing their preferred positions from high school or junior footy. Totally normal.

I actually thought Makasini was a winger when I initially heard of him so think it would make sense to ease him into NRL on the wing.

We are starting to put together a lethal backline here.
Bula
Makasini
May
To’a
Turuva

I’m just drooling thinking about how deadly this is gonna be. May and Makasini combination could be absolutely insane. Although no need to rush him in I think just wait until there is a shortage in the backline first.

Feels like we are getting very close to finally having a well-rounded side just need to sort out our forwards now.

Don’t rush the kid , unless Toa is injured, would like to see him get a run last game of the season, just to blood him , no hurry, give him a of season to get ready

I would pick him over Toa and send Toa to get his arm fixed. It’s clearly a major issue for him.
