Help me (and others) keep faith in Madge...

Why do players get worse when they get here, and other players get better when they leave? We need an answer to that question.

Packer, Reynolds, BJ for example we’re good players when we signed them.

Similarly Paps, Sironens, Paseka were struggling with us.

Someone explain the logic...

We have young centers who desperately need games at center.
We have a young winger who needs to develop combos with them.
We have nothing to lose / season done...

PERFECT game to play Talau or Hoffman...

And...
We play Lawrence.

That just killed all faith I had left.

It makes no sense on every level right now and even less looking at 2021.

He played Talau last week and all everyone did after was want to trade him out.

I am not a big Talau fan...but you had to think of 2021 and let the kid at least get some games. What did playing Lawrence do to help 2021? It made zero difference tonight. But i expected the coach to at least have an eye on 2021.

You won't get an argument from me on thinking about 21. I hate and i mean absolutely hate Liddle being left on the bench until 17 mins to go when he will be our hooker next year. Lawrence has less mobility than a one legged dog. He would never ever be playing centre in my side but i'm not the coach and i don't know what the plan is. What i do know is we have changed lots of coaches and got the same results over and over, so maybe the club is doing the right thing by backing the coach and looking elsewhere to solve its problems of which i believe there are many. ( but not for this topic)

Ok that break Rowdy made I thought was the quickest I saw him run in about 9 seasons ...maybe I hit 30 x on the Fox remote lol

Was it a bad pass or bad wing?

Both imo

Benji been around for a thousand years ......if AJ can't see how Benji prefers to deliver a ball .....never will ...flat and fast

Thought you were talking about the pass from Lawrence at x30 speed ?

thought owdy's pass was good..

Happy insisted I watch it at x30

Problem was we had 2 other players pretty much holding hands and wondering who was going to receive it

Kepaoa or whatever his name is looks fast but jeez he’s so raw

I drowned out his whinning...

Did you foe him for the evening?

How were Souths in there last year with Madge as coach ?
I can’t remember..?

A very respectable 12th. Burgi, Cook, Walker, Reynolds, Crichton, Farah, Johnston etc

I think everyone could see it was the players fault because he is a premiership winning coach ?

It’s always the coaches fault .. sheens , potter , Taylor , Maguire , Royce Simmons and his cones, sandercock , Hodgson etc. The reality is it’s guys arm grabbing , clocking off, being too slow , not tackling with aggression . You can have all the structure in the world , but blokes who don’t put in , will lead to what we have . It’s 100% attitude .

And all Madge has done is try change the attitude of the guys by being a tough coach. For some it’s worked and others it hasn’t and they’ve gone backwards which makes it easy for Madge to know who to keep. 2022 the top 30 is going to look completely different

Exactly !!!!! Joey to me needs to be next to brooks ,I’d say this hasn’t happened because they trained all year with defensive structures , and Nofa is leading the try scorers tally. I wish McIntyre didn’t get his head knock early , that weakened us for sure .
Our pack next year won’t include , mikalele , eisenhuth ,packer , garner , Taylor , seyfarth , Clarke. Those guys will be replaced by Tamou , stefano , musgrove , blore , McIntyre . With eiso , packer and mikalele questionable .

Unfortunately the way Madge is trying to rebuild our team will have a lot of short term pain. Gotta stick with him though, even if he doesn’t win a premiership he’ll get rid of most of the rubbish players

More medium to long term pain but I agree at least the garbage will be taken out ..

Just forget about it people.
Top sides are fighting for something and the rest have what we have ..... no reason to hope.
One more loss and it will be all over.
This was always going to be a Mickey Mouse season anyway.
I’m looking forward to what off season brings .... hopefully a big bright beginning to a better season ahead.
Good night!

Agree. I think your really great coaches, like Bellamy and Robinson, are able to get the best out of their lower tier players. This impacts enormously on the success of a club. You rarely see a team coached by Bellamy or Robinson not show great desperation and energy in defence and rarely do they clock off in games.

Man that’s crap. Those guys recruit a specific type of player with certain intangibles. It’s not like they recruit everyone . Fringe players are of a specific ilk , and usually very similiar . For elite quality , whichever team they’re in matters little .
Also most of this teams personalities were brought to the club under a completely different philosophy. Both those coaches structures have been in place for years , so players who go there , are very aware of what they are there for .
We have to put an identity in place . We are still fielding a team recruited under a different identity .

The reality is unless Packer and Reynolds move on not much is going to change in 2021. Not a lot the coach can do without the ammunition.

Young guys on the way up are looking for an opportunity to improve with a proven, successful club. They're willing to take less in the hope it pays off later.

Old guys are looking for a spot on top money to finish their careers. They can demand good money from weaker clubs because it's the only thing those clubs have to offer.

The problem is it keeps perpetuating itself and the merry-go-round just keeps turning. The good teams offload older guys to the lesser teams ensuring the status quo.

Paps was killing it in juniors . He left because , we were focused on the big 4 at the time , and right up until the last second we thought paps path to first grade was blocked by the Australian fullback . We screwed up.
Sironen was going alright , he had an ego and still believed he was a 6. Went to manly and turns out , yep he’s a backrower. I’m sure if he had his time again he would have wished he’d listened . Heard an interview with him recently and you could here the love he had for us. Paseka was killing it as well, we just told him he had to wait a year ... he said no went to manly and......."... had to wait a year lol .

Are you taking the Mickey ?

Madge is our best option. I think we've seen improvement from a lot of players. Look at Aloia, Luciano, Doueihi, Eisenhuth, Nofo. But we don't have a lot of talent. I don't agree that Titans and Bulldogs have weaker teams. We're either on par or they are stronger. Titans for example have Arrow, who on our team would attract big money offer from a contender? Our 5/8 today was rejected by the bulldogs three years ago, and he hasn't gotten better, and our captain is another dogs discard, and they weren't even a good team then.

People blame the coach, they always do, I just don't think he's what is getting in the way of Tigers being a success with this side.

Honestly, I think we can judge him in 2022, I'm not even putting pressure on next year because there's just no talent in our squad and it's hard coaching a team of plodders. He's doing the right thing in letting players go and signing young players, with a few senior players thrown in. Only misstep seems to be the recruitment of Joey, can't see him getting better.

I don't like the way he threw lots of different sides around this year, but he probably wanted to have a look at a lot of players and knew this year wasn't going to much. If that's a plan worked out within the club then I think that's okay.
