High-scoring wins didn't help us: Taylor

Illogical to come 15th and for some fans to question the coach?

I don't know about that.

Do you think people would be calling for his head if we came 8th last year??

Ive never called for him to be sacked, every coachedeserves 2 seasons.

However if he comes 15ht again this year it will be curtains and rightly so.

And if we do come 15th and rightly sack him as you say..we employ another coach with great credentials, the team finishes 15th again and 15th the following year…do we sack him as well ????..

Maybe the players within the squad may not have the potential that they are hyped up to have, and may find NRL way over the heads to compete in....but as you say sack the coach, because fans want to win...

Any fan with black white and orange blood running through their veins know that we have to give JT his full contract time..I know that we are going to get beaten at times, however we need to let him do his job with the roster he has and to give the young group time to mature especially with their execution, percentage play and ball control...far to many people want to jump on the kick JT in the arse train...they are not in his shoes and I doubt they would know what is going on within the club...Tiger Torch would be the one who knows.......

Top 8 or he's finished !
KPI's should already be in place for Taylor this year !
Top 8 or bye bye !

Good point Chad.
There more to all this JT hate…. It's personal for some, some cannot get past him and Farah.... Wouldn't be surprised theres a magpie element to it also.
It's just waaay too overboard and illogical

Or maybe some people simply just don't think he's a particularly good coach.

A big part of being a good coach is having good communication skills.
In my opinion JT lacks that skill.

and then on to the next coach to be knifed by everybody if the TEAM doesnt perform because they arent good enough…the way it is ,Wests Tigers are only interested in sacking coaches and not recruiting top level talent because they have no money....but blame the coach Hobs....

What is that based on?

From what I see, the team is responding to his defensive mantra.

Is it communicating to the media you are talking about?

then you must have glossed over the "Taylor doesn't understand we need to score more than the opposition" posts that are in this very thread.

I didn't defend his bench selections, although I'm sure if Farah had started, **Halatau was a designated 2nd rower & Cherrington on the Bench we would never have heard the complaints.**.

I'd still be unhappy about that CG!

Although I think very highly of Dene, he doesn't cut it as a modern back-rower for me.

Doesn't offer much in attack and while his defence is generally good, he is often unable to get back into the marker position when involved in the tackle. Too often.

Not sure why he seems to be getting gassed so easy.

Surely one of the State Cup players would be a better option for second row?

But not because he was using 52 hookers.

Is there a better option in the State Cup? Can we just keep inserting kids into the line-up & expect results to come?

Not sure mate, but I think we are in real trouble if not.

Some good judges on here like Edwards and Chee-Kam. I'd be happy to see Griffin get a run, I don't think he would disappoint off the bench (although he is not in the top 25).

Like many, I am just frustrated to see the same low-achievers named without giving some promising options a chance. Only needs to be one at a time.

This week would be a good opportunity because any of those names above won't be coming off a short turnaround either.

edit: and yes, the extra hooker and back-up fullback playing on the wing doesn't help either!
Guess we'll see what happens on Saturday.

I'd agree that Edwards will be a boost, but he's returning from injury, and the team was already carrying Farah's return from injury. You have to have fit players.

Chee Kam is board superstar, but as yet hasn't actually proven anything. I'm interested to see what he offers, but he might not be doing anything of note in training.

I'm not sold on Griffin. This is a career reserve grader. He'd have to be blitzing it in reserves to get a call up.

Everyone wants to whip poor old Lovett, but he's improved on last year. And he is a back-up starting in place of our 2 top backrowers being out. Buchanan might never be a star, but he's defensively very sound, and what is it Taylor says the team needs to work on? Defence. It's not hard to see why he's called on.

Everyone is acting like the selections of Lovett, Buchanan, Halatau & Cherrington are the reasons the Tigers couldn't beat Parramatta.

Yet, we held the competition heavy weights to 8 points.

If the team could be patient (experience required) and build pressure (from memory, 1 repeat set for the Tigers) there is every chance this 'poor' team beats the high priced Eels.

Honestly, I think this was the best performance of the season.

Just didn't execute on offense.

C-Ghost, yes our defence was pretty impressive against the eels but the bottom line the Eels completion rate was terrible and both teams basically just had to tackle the bloke running at them, neither team really constructed any decent attacking raids. The feeling I got was similar to the ill fated Cowboys game last year, and that was the Eels thought they had us covered all game and any lead would be easy to defend so why risk a drop ball out wide with a risky play.

I am not calling for Taylors head, I just think he has to re think a couple of team selection while the season is still young.

Yes we do. We have to get results. You can't keep coming 15th.

Yep i agree…it's finally working for Parramatta...they been doing it since 1986...

.

If we play like that each week, how many games do you think we'll win. And how many fans will turn up to watch us play like that?

Are you really JT. I suppose winning games doesn't matter.

None and very very few. We will be a basket case.

That loss though isn't the end of the world. This season has had plenty of positives. It's the same as last year though in that when things start getting a little tough the spin comes out in full force. Wins don't matter. Structures are important. We need to get our defence right. Blah blah blah. I'm 100% confident though that the club's management will be expecting wins. I don't think they will be reactive and that is a good thing but I'm sure they will act if we don't get things right over the course of this season and next season.

The problem on the weekend was that our halves were terrible. We need to get that fixed and these players need to win games like that for us. Hopefully JT was just speaking his usual dribble and he knows that we need to get our attack going and he works on that.

I don't think they do anything at training anymore…just eat pizza and drink beer and watch videos...

Or they could be super dooper sharp score 200 tries and let none in...in the opposed sessions...Taylor is responsible for that....

Come 5.30pm Sat.. means bugger all ...if they don't hold the football

Getting a bit paranoid now Steve ??

Was talking to Geo about it 😱pen_mouth:

I thought Parramattas attack was just as bad as ours … The only difference between the teams was a Luke Brooks leg pull that led to two points and a highly contentious try. Other than that there wasn't much in it.

Why do people keep saying that Taylor knockers from last year think defence is not important?

I haven't seen 1 person suggest this. Not one post or even intimation has been of this thought…not a single one that I have seen.
