**MAN OF STEEL AWARD SHORTLIST REVEALED**

Three players – **Huddersfield Giants full-back Brett Hodgson,** James Graham of St Helens, and Warrington Wolves prop Adrian Morley – have been shortlisted for the prestigious 2009 engage Super League Man of Steel award.

Graham is the reigning engage Super League Man of Steel and last year became the fourth successive St Helens player to win an award which is presented to the player who is deemed to have made the biggest impact on the engage Super League season.

**Hodgson, who was today named as Super League player of the year by the Rugby League Writers’ Association,** is shortlisted in his first season in Super League since he joined Huddersfield from Australian club Wests Tigers.

Morley’s inclusion comes in a year which has seen him lead Warrington Wolves to victory over Huddersfield Giants in the Carnegie Challenge Cup Final at Wembley, their first final success since 1974.

Earlier this week Hodgson and Morley were both named in the 2009 engage Super League Dream Team.

The Man of Steel award is decided by a poll of every engage Super League player and will be presented at a gala dinner in Manchester on Monday October 5.

The Man of Steel dinner will also feature a series of awards including Super League Coach of the Year, Super League Young Player of the Year and the Mike Gregory Spirit of Rugby League award.

Hodgo you are a true champion of the game and deserve every acolade that comes your way.

Oh so true…gosh Hodgo is a great champion and a champion person...I really miss him! and am so glad he is getting these acolades...

Man of Steel….well we could have told them that from the beginning..... :master: Hodgo.....

He could have been handy playing for us this year. Geez it's hard being a Sheens supporter sometimes.

Like everyone else i love Hodgo, but i have to admit, i supported our decision to let him go. I thought it was the right time. In hindsight, u cant help but think if he was with us this year we would still be playing. I was wrong and so was the club, but im very happy for him.

Congrats to Hodgo. I'm not a massive Sheens fan nor am I anti-Sheens. But the decision to let him go seemed right at the time as he looked like the game had past him. Sometimes a change of scenery can be very beneficial. The style of the EPL I believe would suit him too,

I hop after he finishes his stint in the UK that he comes back to the club in some official capacity,we need blokes like him in soooo many ways.

His body would not have put up with another NRL season IMO. He is great but his time in the NRL was over.

Also if we had kept Hodgo it would have had to have been on pretty decent coin. Could we have even come close to affording it?

The Pretzel's form would not be the same if he had've stayed on in the NRL this season. The ESL is what has rejuvenated his class. Perfect move at the perfect time for Moe. Let him age gracefully and as a true champion. :master:

Congrats Hodgo, absolute champion player, even if he doesn't win the award he's going to be beaten by one of the best forwards in the world in Morley or Graham.

On the Super League website , English fans have voted for him the most and have 56% of the votes ….really hopes he wins it as we all know he deserves such an award

Huh …...is the man of Steel award voted by the punters......?

No Geo, it's just a poll on the Super League site asking the punters who they think will get the Award.
I dare not put $100 on it , Just in case , I put the curse of Alad on poor Hodgo.

**MAN OF STEEL ODDS ANNOUNCED BY SUPER LEAGUE**

Super League’s official bookmakers, William Hill have today announced the odds ahead of the 2009 engage Super League Man of Steel Awards next Monday Evening.

**Slight favourite is Warrington prop Adrian Morley.** The 32-year-old prop was last week named on a three-man short-list for the coveted award, which is voted for by every Super League player in a secret ballot.

William Hill, the RFL’s official bookmakers, have the England forward as evens favourite **ahead of Huddersfield Giants captain Brett Hodgson (6/4)** and St Helens prop James Graham (7/2), who is hoping to follow his former team-mate Paul Sculthorpe by becoming only the second player to be named Man of Steel in successive seasons.

William Hill are also offering even money on Sam Tomkins being named engage Super League Young Player of the Year for 2009 when the awards are announced at next Monday’s gala dinner in Manchester.

The Wigan Warriors stand-off has made a big impression in his breakthrough season and is a narrow favourite ahead of Salford City Reds scrum-half Richie Myler (6/5) and St Helens half-back Kyle Eastmond (5/1).

**Huddersfield Giant Head Coach Nathan Brown is odd-on favourites to win the engage Super League Coach of the Year award** after leading the Giants to the Carnegie Challenge Cup Final and a highest-ever third place finish.

The other leading contenders for Coach of the Year are Justin Morgan, who this season took Hull Kingston Rovers into the play-offs for the first time, and Leeds Rhinos coach Brian McClennan, whose team stand just two wins away from an unprecedented back-to-back hat-trick of Super League titles.

Leading Coach of the Year odds: 4/5 Nathan Brown; 9/4 Justin Morgan; 5/1 Brian McClennan; 14/1 John Kear; 20/1 Terry Matterson, Mick Potter, Tony Smith; 33/1 Brian Noble, Kevin Walters.
