How bad is this side??

While not the worst team we've ever had on paper this is probably the worst team on the field we've had

I can’t even watch when Brooks is picked as Halfback every single week......... he brings nothing, his passing game is abysmal, always picks the wrong option, the wrong pass to the wrong man in the worst position... he is deadset killing us as a team... he puts absolutely no doubt into the minds of the defence.... he needs to be dropped !

No half back in the NRL suffocated the attack like Brooks

That is the big issue...Brooksy's low IQ plays NEGATIVELY impact the team.

Even if Madden came in and simply played a Fogarty role / short kicks and bring the pack onto the ball...and Jock did absolutely nothing else, it would still be a huge plus.

Madden has to be given a crack.

Brooks is busted mentally and looks lost.

Wouldn’t expect miracles with madden coming in.

Luke Brooks deflates the team every game. His kick directly into the Titans hands on their line, and their subsequent line break was indefensible. And I've seen it all before. He has had his chance. Some users on this sub are in complete denial about him. He is one of the worst NRL halves, hands down.

Well Im 61 and Ive been following league since I was around 5 and my dad took me to Pratten Park to see the Magpies play and Ive been a Magpie supporter since then through thick and thin, now a Wests Tigers supporter since merge.

A few observations now on this team inc coach.

* Brooks is done, for the good of both please go and try somewhere else. Take the pressure off both club and yourself.

* our players are mentally soft- no idea how to fix it, other clubs dont have as big a problem but geez, its a biggie.

* Our defence is crap, little scramble and little effort.

* Maguire is done. This season has to be his last. We need fresh ideas but we are on the correct path with developing youth and not really paying overs except for a marque player if ever we can get one for that key player. I reckon that may be more due to Hartigan than Maguire.

* Pick one homeground and for gods sake lets try to make is our castle. Campbelltown / Leichhardt doesnt do it for the team, so history aint going to drive anything (and Lidcombe is now in Parra territory). Think either ANZ stadium or Sydney FS must be it. I think the reality is we are an inner city club, so lets get our homeground somewhere there even sharing a facility is fine unless it is overly identified with a rival eg Bankwest being Parra's turf.

* Pascoe may be on his last legs and tiring of the load.

At very elast we wont be bothering the Dally M awards for this year.

The reality is, we are not of first grade NRL standard. There are 3-4 players in our team that may make it into another first grade NRL team. You can’t blame the players, they try their best ...they are NOT the ones picking themselves every week!
Sure we will win the occasional game and cause the odd upset. That’s as best as it gets.
I don’t go to the games anymore.
Even when they are playing at Leichhardt (I’m a 10 minute walk from the ground) I just watch them on fox and switch it off, usually before full time.
No long depressing drives home all the way from Campbelltown.

Brooks from a talent view is probably the most gifted player in the team. He is in a slump. The whole team is. He is not the issue.

Our forwards eat it big time and we are rudderless in attack.

2025 give or take.

Brooks is not a halfback, he is a 5/8th at best.
Not in first grade though, maybe group 9 in some country comp.

On paper, if everyone played to their potential, this side would be much higher on the ladder. But the reality is the way they are playing, this team might end up being one of the worst “teams” the Wests Tigers have ever had. So much promise in the pre season, to be serving this up to their supporters is pretty ordinary.

The biggest problem in this team is the lack of leadership, the senior players like Brooks,Nofoaluma,Tamou and Mbye offer nothing as they are the worst performers so it is left to Douehi who is 22 and still finding his feet as a 5/8. The newer and younger players try but there is no leadership that I can see,

Nofo puts in regularly and he put in today but his defense is not up to standard.

It's not really leadership that is the problem. It's the fact that our best players in Doueihi, Laurie and Luc need some better players around them.

I don't chase anyone around unless they are blatantly trolling. I may disagree with much of what Paws says but I don't think they are a troll.

I made two replies to them in a game thread. If that constitutes chasing someone around then there are members on this site whom are magnitudes worse than I.

one thing you can never ever fault is Nofo and his attack it is right up there his defence has always been woeful.
He was not the only ordinary player out there today though Cini was disgraceful
