Here's the worry I have, I have no doubt Sheens can sort it out and get us playing finals footy again. My worry is he has only 2 years before Marshall takes over. 2 years to fix this mess is no where near enough. Then it's being handed to someone who hasn't coached anything in his life.Righto, here's my two cents.
On field, the common denominator is a lack of leadership and has been for years. This mob plays like a rabble. You can put a name to an individual, or not, but one way or another the team needs a footy brain leading them on the field.
Most of the players are fine, at least adequate. Players from this team always seem to do OK at other clubs with different coaching.
Playing heads up footy is great, but you need structure behind it. Your opposition has to anticipate structured play which you then work around with heads up play. Ok, Maguire was too rigid, but these guys are all over the place.
Im not convinced by the idea of Marshall/Sheens coaching.
I reckon half our problem is we are just a lazy team. Api pushes up noone is near him, forwards take a hit up free their arm there's noone around. Everyone is just standing back and watching. These posers need a rocket. You either have desire or you don't. I'd be telling them they need to find it quickly or can look for it in reserve grade.I just posted in another thread about our attack and it's all on the coaches. They are not playing to Brooks and Doueihi's strengths at all.
The way I see it, we have Api controlling the middle on his own. No ball playing lock helping, and no halfback on the ball helping. We are playing Brooks wide expecting his pace will cause trouble on the edge. Problem is, the hooker isn't enough to condense the middle to give Luke space. We need to shift our thinking. Brooks' speed will be more beneficial through the middle. He needs to play close to the ruck unless we somehow unearth a smart lock. This will open up the edge for Doueihi and the fullback.
The idea behind the structure makes no sense. Long ball to the halves with just the hooker controlling the middle = shocking coaching.
Players like who, Nofo and Luch?Maybe not, but he sacrificed the team last year by releasing and loaning players mid season supposedly to front load the salary cap for a better showing this year. We could have easily avoided the spoon if we tried.
So far he has not made good on that sacrifice.

I'm not even saying I think Sheens is doing a good job right now, but I am saying it's too early to do anything about it.
Players like who, Nofo and Luch?
I have zero problem with any of the players Tigers let go last year. I will point out Luch is currently stood down from Cowboys and hasn't played since September due to his DV charges.
I'm sorry but saying that a coach's "grace period is nearly up" (the original comment) is madness after 2 games as head coach. I don't care what Sheens did or did not do in his role 2022 - he wasn't the coach.
I'm not even saying I think Sheens is doing a good job right now, but I am saying it's too early to do anything about it. Sheens will be head coach for 2023 and 2024 unless the club decides to give Benji the reigns early, but we aren't going to see anyone but Benji or Sheens front the organisation until at least 2026.
Yep sheens is stratigic as the best of them.
Basically has no accountability next couple of years then off back to England.
Enjoy
I dunno why anyone is surprised that the AD/Brooks combo sucks

It's the tigers. We're 0 and 2.I get it but that is unrealistic isn't it. Plus they've just had a clean out.
Absolutely way too early.Players like who, Nofo and Luch?

He let go of Mikaele, Luciano and then loaned out Nofa and Gildart for no particular reason. This meant we had players like Pauga, Dias, Freebairn who have been career reserve graders playing NRL. This directly led to getting the spoon (we all remember Pauga's clanger last year).Players like who, Nofo and Luch?

Wow Luch is on DV charges? We dodged a massive bullet there.Players like who, Nofo and Luch?

Mate he's got a free pass for 12 probably 24 months and everyone needs to get their heads around that.He let go of Mikaele, Luciano and then loaned out Nofa and Gildart for no particular reason. Leilua's charges are irrelevant as they had no bearing on the 2022 season.
I don't disagree with the rest of your post that it's too early but he shouldn't get a free pass for last year given he created that mess.
If you want the clincher, reportedly Luch has become engaged to the woman at the centre of the DV charges and she doesn't want the case to proceed.Wow Luch is on DV charges? We dodged a massive bullet there.
Agreed, I gave Sheens till round 6 to get at least 2 wins. Not huge expectations but I want to see some success.
Come round 6, maybe round 8 considering Bateman hasn't started.... I want Sheens on notice if he isn't making the goods. The whole "Sheens" idea is madness, it is a shame Manly did not fire Des Haslier sooner.
