If we miss the finals, should Tim Sheens walk?

If we fail to make the 8 this season, surely it's a sign that we need a new coach. Sheens surely must walk. Agreed?

he's already failed to make the finals 6 times
what difference is 1 more year going to make?
afterall he's a supercoach who we are lucky to have :master:

Because we went so well last year. It'd be a massive kick in the pants. In every season since 2006 we've showed signs of improvement. We've seemed on the precipice every year, culminating in last year. The only way imo that Sheens could keep his job this year is to match last year or better it. I would sack him with anything less. Missing the 8 completely is a no brainer.

Disagree.

With all the crap we have had heaped on us this year, from a record injury toll, to unnecessary and undue amounts of attention on our contractual issues, or team members personal issues, it seems to me the ONE thing holding the team together is the unerring testicular fortitude that Sheens has.

We have been hammered from varying media sources for a multitude of things not concerning rugby league.

We have been hammered on the park with injures.

We are still in 7th place! We have a great shot at making the finals, and IMHO winning the whole shebang.

the one constant all year, through everything has been Sheens. Never losing his sh… er ... marbles. Never making excuses - REPEATEDLY telling the press that the team cannot make excuses, even when fans are being much more forgiving (myself included)

If we had a coach like Kevin Moore, he'd have necked himself after 8 rounds, and we'd be running 16th.

Sheens is not just sitting on his hands ater having his contract extended for 4 years - you can see the Sheens factor in effect with the team changes - and I for one am both intrigued, and excited about our prospects.

Lose Sheens, and we lose a lot more than what he is given credit for. I don't want to go back to a Terry Lamb era, and if we lost Sheens and picked up a Dingleberry like Stuart, that's where we would head.

CARN TIGERS!!!

CARN SHEENS!!! :sign:

Agree 100%

There is more chance of us winning the minor premiership this year that Sheens standing down. Will never happen.

He should, but he won't. He said two weeks ago that he is not worried, and that we will be there when it counts. We'll see.

If we miss the finals next year after these losses and gains I think there will be quite a few answers sheens will have to answer to

Since 2006 I think we've been sort of building a team towards having a real run at the finals, and I think that culminated in last year's loss to the Dragons in the finals. While the Dragons were easily the benchmark of the comp and went on to win it all, I think it showed that our best at the time just wasn't good enough.
Maybe they gave the guys another crack this year, but after all the injuries and controversy around contracts it's been pretty abysmal, and it's forced our hand with all the releasing of players and stuff.

Next year we should have one of the best sides in the comp, and definitely one of the best forward packs, it's just a matter of getting what's on paper to deliver out on the park. If we don't make the finals or at least give it a good shake up, heads are gonna roll, or at least they should.

this is a fairly interesting point - if we can't make the finals and give the tree a shake in 2012 and 2013 then there probably should be questions asked.

Why 2012? Why not 2011!? Why is it always one more year?

The fact that this team hasn't imploded and running last, with all the shenanigans with injuries, player unrest and poor form, is a testament to the coaching staff in keeping this ship afloat. We've got all the excuses to justify running last, but we are still in the fight. If sheens manages to guide us into the finals, considering, I'll be impressed. Anything can happen from there.

The way I read the thread title, we are talking about 2011 therefore I don't think it would be right for Sheens to walk based on the points posted by underdog. If Sheens entire coaching record was at issue in this thread then there could be a case for Sheens to go but it is irrelevant as the club is obviously happy with him as he has been resigned on the back of his record.

If we miss the finals, should Tim Sheens walk? …..in short, no.

if we were at the bottom end of the table this season and the past couple then its a different matter.

i thought long ago that a coaching change was good for us then i see the merry go round going on at the bulldogs and think forget it.

even if u get a so called top coach everyone wants who says its going to work out when they come to your club.

Well, I personally feel this year we have copped more press related flack than ANY other team in the NRL, and have had the worst injury toll (well, maybe with the exception of souths) out of any team.

Week after week I have seen story after story smearing the Tigers. I said it about a month ago, if we win the title this year, it will be the greatest NRL Premiership campaign in history, in terms of beating the odds. Period.

A true "Underdog" (ahem, you can all see what I did there) story if you will.

probably? its a no-brainer.No probably's about it,he should walk if he's not pushed. That would make it 11 yrs with only 2 finals appearences, and you think questions should only 'probably' be asked?
he's lucky to have a job as it is atm.If he were at any other club he'd be long gone

He has been obviously responsible for the player recruitment for next season. Bit harsh not to let him coach the team he has created for next season.
