In particular I remember the Souths loss as a really promising performance - they were smashing everyone at the time, and we went toe to toe with them for 60-70 mins.
We belted the Dogs leading into the bye…. and then it all went pear-shaped from there.
JT told us we were improving our defence and that we'd see the results in the back end of the season... though our defence stats literally got worse as the year went on.
JT told us we were too young and inexperienced.
He then let a current international fwd leave whilst under contract.
There is an inherent culture of passing the buck at this club, and I've been burnt by it too many times to genuinely believe that it'll turn around. 'I'll believe it when I see it' couldn't be more fitting when it comes to the WT fortunes.
I really hope JT knows what he's doing, but he just strikes me as a chancer with very little in the way of man management.
I fully expect more rhetoric about re-building and long-term gain this year as WT try to push their goals and budgets back a bit further without anyone noticing.
I think we may improve slightly but not Top 8.
Like others I think JT is the fall guy, getting rid of all the agendas and overpaid players which have haunted this club for last 5 years.
I think it says a lot that we have only one player signed for season 2018\. Considering thats only 2 seasons away the next coach is going to get a hell of a war chest to build a team from scratch. That is provided that coach is installed by the end of 2016.

Agree with you Spartan, JT has shown he has backbone to make the hard decisions which is what the club needs. What the club doesn't need right now are more negative posts (there's been enough of that out there in the media to sink a ship!). It does nothing to help the players and take the club forward which is surely what everyone wants.

It's my opinion that the whole RF thing was nothing to do with the player himself but more on the dollars he absorbs. JT knew he needed new blood and wanted him gone to build his team. He knew his success as a coach relied on the cattle he could attract. He didn't expect RF's reaction and the subsequent media attention.
JT rolled the dice and came up snake-eyes. It went down hill from there with an potentially disastrous domino effect.
We now have mutterings of player unrest (beyond Farah) and if cannot RE-SIGN Brooks, Moses, Woods and Teddy, then his future is probably going to be quite tenuous.

Taupau out - A swathe of competition for his spot with Edwards, Chee Kam, Parahi, McConachie, Griffin, Liolevave
Galloway out - A swathe of competition for his spot with Graham, Buchanan, Griffin, McConachie, Ailoai, Felise, Tatola, Grant
If we can't find suitable replacements for our losses in that group we're nuts. We're likely to find upgrades to existing rusted on first graders to boot. The likes of Sironen, Naqiama, Nofoaluma, Sue, Seumanufagai will be forced to continue improving to keep their positions.
We have stacked the side with talent to evaluate, and that is fantastic.

I think Richards going is a positive. Taupau could be a massive loss but we don't know how the players mentioned will turn out. Galloway out may end up about an even.
I still think it comes down to players playing a lot better than they have. Moses, Brooks and Sironen and the 3 we really need to perform better than what they have in the past.

This is a team, not just 3 players having to perform better. Don't put it all on a few youngsters.
They all need to - then we may have a reasonable chance of climbing the ladder a little.

Outside of Edwards, all of those you've named are unproven kids or have played most of their careers in reserve grade. Even Edwards has kinda yo-yo'd between the two top grades for part of his career (particularly recently).
I guess when you throw a lot of darts some are bound to stick, but it's far from a sure thing that you seem to be banking on.
Our problem (in JT's own words) last year was lack of experience - it's been exacerbated by the changes in the squad.
