Indigenous All Stars do not sing the National Anthem

The stupidity of playing National Anthems was on show for all to see. Dane Gagai in the Maori team is an Australian Citizen & proud QLDer. Andrew Fifita is now an Abo again, not a Samoan! James Tamou is no longer an Aussie but is singing for the Kiwis? WTF? In this day and age of PC BS apparently you can be any Culture you like as long as it ain't White! Todd Greenberg's Epic Cultural FAIL!

And Mundine loves his aboriginal culture that much he became a Muslim. Truely a strange way of showing respect to his people.

So, in your eyes, to stand there and not sing the national anthem is not disrespectful ?
I have no words.
And there is no mention of Italian immigrants. so I am offended, The next anthem better have Ravioli or bocconcini in one of the verses.
Of course everyone came across the seas . . . we live on a bloody island !!!!
I want a specific mention of Italy. And the Maltese of Malta. And the Greeks of Greece.
And the gay farmers. And the pot smoking hippies.
I'll have a few bourbons and pen a couple of verses.

I said I don't find it disrespectful, I can however see why others do.

I can’t see what is disrespectful to the indigenous on our anthem.

But that is not for you to decide, if a group of people find something offensive or disrespectful to them, that is their decision.

To be honest, I don’t see how *any* minority/faction/religion/heritage thinks it has the right to change a national anthem to suit their agenda.

You are correct, they do not have a right to change it, however they most definitely have the right to discuss it, promote their belief, gather support and protest for what they believe in. That is what a free country is.

Well, I and it seems others as well, am offended by the arrogance of those who refused to sing our national anthem.

And you can be offended by it, that is the point I am making.

I agree the First Nation have legitimate issues that need to be addressed but you don't get that through arrogance and ignorant. You need to voice your disapproval in appropriate ways. What was done last night was a silly attempt at grandstanding. The NRL should cancel the event in future if they continue their approach from last night.

So then if I'm offended, and the indigenous are offended, and the gays are offended, and the middle aged white straight males are offended, and the jehova's are offended, etc . . . . who do we listen to ?

The hard thing is, how many times to indigenous peoples get to be the centre point of a national stage? It becomes a chance to get people talking that can be too hard to pass up.

I think I’ve worked it out.
Cochise is a firm believer in **having the right** to be offended or outraged.
Like so many today !

I'm actually the opposite, im not outraged by this, you are!

Yep.
Lee Harvey Oswald thought along the same lines. " How many times will JFK be driving down my street in an open car ? I'd better shoot him while I have the chance"

Seems like their point has been lost. We're here talking about them not singing it out of protest but no one really seems to know exactly what they were protesting.

On another point, don't these guys do a stack of interviews in the lead up to the game? Could they have not brought up whatever their issues were then?
