Injuries this year

Wests Tigers can provide the following injury update on Robbie Farah and Moses Mbye after the pair sustained injuries in the club’s loss to the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs on Saturday.
Scans have today confirmed that Farah fractured part of his tibia, with the club to explore further assessment and options around the hooker’s recovery.
He will miss Thursday’s game against the Sea Eagles.
Mbye sustained a hip flexor strain in the match against the Bulldogs on Saturday, and will be given every opportunity to prove his fitness for the side’s Round 22 clash against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles this weekend.

If that's the case with Robbie, his career is done.

@Madge very sadly, it would seem Robbie’s played his final game for us and boy, will we miss Mbye over the next couple weeks... Hip Flexor can be a very tricky one ☝️

Talau probably gets a run, so will be good to see what he’s got. Unfortunate for Farah, but in regards to 2020 and beyond, we’ll finally get to see what we should have on the run home, and that’s Liddle given the keys.

That would be minimum 6 weeks for Farah wouldn’t it?

Minimum 6 weeks according to nrlphysio

Talking of injuries, Storm had Papenhauzen, Smith, Welch, Hughes out a kid on debut and they play a top 4 side and don't miss a beat.
Their stars step up and get them home.

Our stars don't even with a full strength squad.

Someone hasn't been watching Souff's much lately..Even Wests Tigers beat them

Storm are in a league of their own. There are 15 other teams that wish they could emulate them. It’s a bit ott to expect us to be as good as them.

@GNR4LIFE we went as close as other team for a large portion of this year, until Manly GP, to beating them at their ground. Madge can somewhat coach I’d say lol

And if it weren't for the flying mullet we may have beaten them.

@Tiger_Steve Yes unfortunately, his arm was paralysed because of the nerve damage. Had nerves from his forearm, back and neck and placed in his shoulder to try and gain response in his shoulder. Devastating.

Man that’s sad. Didn’t know that. Life certainly can throw up challenges

Yeah it sucks. The club looks to have looked after him though and he is still involved. Stuff like this happens in life and you've just got to get on with it unfortunately.

Total injury numbers for the 2021 NRL season are similar to previous years, but severe injuries are happening more frequently.

After Round 8, in-game “major” injuries (at least 5 weeks missed) per round:
2021: 4.6
2020: 4
2019: 3.1
2018: 3
2017: 2.1

Lots of hand/finger/wrist injuries due to player trying land on all 4 for a quick PTB. With ball in one arm, the other arm goes through a lot of trauma.

I think we have been the least injured side in the comp....which is a concern given where we are on the ladder!

Have we had a better run with injuries than this year?

I can't recall a season which we've had so few.

I mean we’ve lost AJ for the season, blore hasn’t got back yet and Jet is gone for about a month. Doesn’t sound too bad but they where all meant to start for us. Also we are now short in the backs, thankfully talau was a one week suspension
