Interesting to see Parra attacking and spreading the ball wide with a lot of success. Its pretty simple really, your confidence goes sky high after a few successful attacking raids and that rubs off on your defensive game, but JT you keep going with the master plan

I watched the game Panthers vEels, and thought it was a very entertaining game of rugby league….a good mix of solid defence and good attack won the game for the Eels ....

True but from the first set they attacked and when your positive it rubs off on all your game

Honestly I cannot understand how anyone is buying JTs dribble. Structures, previous teams, previous coaches, the players need to toughen up, the master plan - its all designed to take the focus away from a guy who is failing big time.

He needs to change his approach and his tactics. Defence is important. No one is stating that it isn't but you need to play attacking footy and you need to get the most out of your players.

One even.

All you guys arguing for the positive are taking this high morale ground where you are trying to say that those like myself who are critical of the coaching dont want this or against this.

The thing is almost all of the guys who are critical are critical of the boring attack we are playing, the mundane five hit ups and a bomb to the fullback thing.

You cant argue that because you all know that it is useless and makes no rugby league sense. Instead you try to paint this picture of us being impatient and wanting things to stay the same. Like we are happy to keep being this soft inconsistent team that the good clubs like to beat up.

Might fool the stupid in the room but most arent buying it.

Happy and a couple of others have tried to bring right and wrong into the argument, like it is so black and white that anyone who disagrees with the coach wants him sacked and doesnt appreciate what he is trying to do.

There is no right or wrong, we are both right. We need to get to where he wants to take us, same as we need to offer more in attack than five boring hit ups and a simple bomb to be classed a good team.

Can anyone accept that?

To TITG and all others who are dissatisfied - I suggest to hop on official WT site and view JT's latest presser - goes about 9 min. Think he explains exactly what he is doing.

I think so. I'd like to see him stop blaming the previous players and coaches for his failures so far this season.

He ain't blaming anyone - he is taking full responsibility - what do previous players have to do with what he is doing now or Potter.

He has inherited a basket case for whatever reason and has been given the task to fix it.

That he is doing - except you think he is all BS and is not fixing it.

You think he should be fixing it YOUR way and then when it doesn't work - they sack HIM!…...cause they ain't gonna sack you are they.

This is simple not true. He consistently says this was wrong and we have to get it right. He'd be better off focussing on the issues that he has right now.

Hey Russel, out of courtesy since you quoted me and mentioned me ill inject back into this just to say that i have watched the video.

I would have liked to have just once heard him preface our awful defense over the last 2 years with the exaggeration caused by the horrendous injury toll. But snake charmers arent renowned for full disclosure.

The video proved what i had thought was going on, the team got carried away with the attack against Canberra, they were brilliant but lost composure and forgot to defend. Taylor cracked the whip after that and dumbed down the attack to absolute bare minimal. Until such time as they learn to defend.

Five boring hit ups and a simple bomb.

The guy is a fruitloop.

Done.

What I think that peeps aren't getting is that I think he is losing us games. He comes out and says defend, defend, defend and the players go into their shells and lost games.

Plus he consistently brings up the past and says that our defence just isn't good enough. All that matters is how we are defending and attacking now.

He is a snake oil seller and a fruitloop. That is the best way to classify him at this point. Was Potter or even Sheens ever this bad ? Sheens said some dumb stuff but I don't think he was ever as delusional as JT and his structures.

Personal? The only name mentioned was Taylor.

I agree with the premise that JT has drained the attack out of the team.
I dont agree with the bagging of the kicks between the 40's (the mid field bombs) I reckon this is the effective percentage play, it is difficult to attack from their anyway, it is a good way to defensively start the next set.

I hate the way we advance the ball, it is uninspiring and provides little or no chance for pressure on the opposition or make a line break. It allows the opposition to condense in defense and back off in the tackle as even a quick play the ball wont result in a break. We will get less and less penalties.
We have got kids with immense talent who are given little chance to show case it.

The most frustrating thing, in most games, once we get into attacking positions we run in points without much trouble. We are not getting to the attacking zone at all at the moment.

Get our defence right the attack will come, look at the dragons everybody saying they can't score, got they defence right and look at them now.

Good understanding of the problem we have ..IMO the reason is our defence is not strong enough to stop opposition gaining big metres so when we return we rarely get into an attacking position and have 2 options ..try spread the ball on late tackles or put in the air midfield and start again . JT has taken the percentage option as We don't have the strength in attack or defence with the current playing roster in any of our teams. We are boys playing men and this won't change until we either wAit for our boys to "grow up" Or can afford to buy some men with experience. People on this forum can whinge all they wAnt but the reality is we don't have the cash to do it this yeAr or probably next so we either try and bring our kids up with a mindset of defence wins you the right to attack this year and next ..or take the easy roAd like we have the last 10 years and play " exciting footy" but never get near the big prize. Just look at physical difference between us and the front runners and you may see why

Pretty much echoes my thoughts Goose.

We are getting owned because of our own tactics in attack, basically putting no pressure on the opposition defence and not tiring them at all. Thus and particularly of late, when we put up the kick to finish our set it is often on our side of halfway and being taken with ease. Instead of struggling to get back onside and relying on their backs to take a few hit ups, the, opposition forwards are ready and willing to start coming at us in numbers again.
