Is Justin Pascoe a good CEO, put it all here

**Justin Pascoe - 2020 End of year Report Card**

*Dear Mr and Mrs Pascoe.*

Since arriving at Wests Tigers, your son has at times showed a willingness to improve the club but has ultimately not lived up to the expectations of the supporter base. During his time in charge he has:

- Missed the finals every year since he arrived, worrying given that the finals include the top 8 teams in a 16 team competition
- Has failed to give the club a permanent home
- Brought in a coach that splashed the cash around like Drake at a strip club, only for said coach to walk out
- Lost one of the club's best ever juniors, who has since gone on to represent Australia and almost single handedly secure State of Origin victories for NSW and bring much delight to Australia's most populated state
- Showed extreme negligence in managing the salary cap, resulting in a heavy penalty

Significant improvement is needed in 2021.

**Final Grade: C+**

Dear Papacito

4 of your 5 points are not relevant to my son. He paid the price for the fifth.

As your little rant is irrelevant - I think significant improvement in content and points made is needed before your next post.

Final Grade: F

Yours sincerely

Mrs Pascoe

I've seen a number of mentions, on this thread and others, of a $670,000 fine in relation to the ambassador role for Robbie Farah. Is that in fact correct?
My understanding is that our salary cap has been reduced by that amount over a two year period. That would be a constraint on our ability to employ players rather than a fine.(No money will have passed from our club to the NRL by way of payment of a fine).
Is my understanding of the situation correct?
If so, given that we now seem to have plenty of room under our salary cap, I wonder whether that constraint is of any great concern.

I thought that there was also a $750k odd fine attached, which was later reduced (halved?). The salary cap fine was allowed to be split over two seasons, so WT are playing 2020 with a cap "constraint" as well as the one passed.

This is correct, we were hit with a $750k fine that was halved after we submitted our show cause response. Our salary cap penalty of $670k was split over 2 seasons and Pascoe's indefinite deregistration was limited to 6 months!

My rating of Pascoe won't change, because he is not in charge of recruitment. Therefore he will not be to blame. It will more be on the head of that department and Madge. After Madge's signing of Jennings I am not very hopeful that he will not want to sign Johnston.

However I will be extremely disappointed as a supporter though.

A bit off topic, since Robbie has not taken up his position at the Wests Tigers and is switching to union, does that mean Toddie has to give us back the salary cap he deducted from us?

The buck stops with him .

No it doesn't - he has no say. It is the Board if anybody else.

He just signs the contract.

Wrong - he's massively involved. As is every NRL CEO.

One of his core duties is to ensure all contracts are compliant with NRL rules, including the cap.

The board is there to cast their eye over deals in a governance/ checks and balances capacity. rubber stamping the deal once the executive management team have passed on their recommendation.

To claim he has "no say" is way off the mark.

Disagree totally.

"The board is there to cast their eye over deals in a governance/ checks and balances capacity. rubber stamping the deal once the executive management team have passed on their recommendation."

If that is the case - we need a new Board. Chairpersons and directors are held responsible in most businesses that I have worked in.

Most board of directors have a finance commitee within that board to oversee financial spending, they then present to the full board to sign off on,then Pascoe is directed to go on with the said contract or purchase..Pascoe cant just go on and sign off on everything that is financial spending for the club without it being presented to the board, minor operational spendings are his responsibility..

Not in a footy Club TT

The recruitment committee is made up of the CEO, Manager of Football Operations, Head Coach and Recruitment officers...J Pascoe Nov CEO update

Pascoe is very much along the lines of most CEO's speaks well

Interesting thought. A personal and professional betrayal by a mate would have been reasonably impacting upon him.
