Is The Club Respected?

I just realised something really bad.

How do we tell if we have a troll on our forum?
Simple they are more optimistic then the actual fans!

(not calling you a troll MTD#2 not at all. All your points above are valid, well said and I agree with you).

As to these 4:
Samuela + Twal is a fair amount of Beef. I get us loosing to Penrith but we still had most of our prop rotation.
AD has been fairly solid this season. However he is usually flakey. We should not be relying on him.
Taylan May, we should 100% not be relying on him.

...
One thing stands out. We put Skelton + Turuva on the same side. Skelton is an experienced NRL winger and probably one of the better wing defenders we have. We put our two rookies Makasini and Tino Tavana together! Why?

Plus the whole starting Charlie Murray + Mavrik Geyer ahead of Seyfarth and Hunt. We needed beef and we put up rookies.

We don't respect the opposition and got walked on.
Made the same point at least twice already this year - why are they putting 2 kids together with less than 10 games between them on the same side.
Even Skelton
- is hardly an experienced player.

It’s beyond stupid!!

I don’t like To’a but surely he’s better to have there than either Makasini or Tino - you can’t have both!!

Relying on Rookies gives us a reason to lose. We shouldn’t be in a position Squad wise where we have Makasini, Tino, Luke Craig, Saukuru in the top 30
- 5 Squad members at around 20 years old with barely 20 games between them.

The next rung above them is Herbert, To’a , Skelton and the likes - hardly something to bang the drums over…

It’s dumb, and these are the reason our depth is shot as soon as one bloke goes down.

It’s as though the gravity of a loss like that doesn’t have any impact on them, they treat it just like another loss. And it almost seems like they go into matches with the comfort that they can lose because they have an excuse with missing players. Then their expectations are met during the game when the opposition take ascendancy and they just roll with it and allow it to become a blowout. Because it doesn’t matter to them, it’s just a loss. That’s all I can glean from them allowing something like that to happen.
This is an important point and it needs to be addressed by the coaching team. Yes, key players were missing, that just means dig deeper. Get embarrassed by that loss and own it. Go to Kmart and buy yourself a wooden spoon reminder and tape it to your locker door.
Bottom line is we dont have the troops beyond the first 17, but the others we do have need to get better.

Being close to the coach is one thing. You want that, you want them to buy in. However, whenever the topic of Benji’s job comes up, everyone worries about a player revolt. That’s not a healthy culture to be festering. And it’s not one that you would find at many other clubs.
Shouldn’t be in question.

Players hitched to the coach - coach hitched to the players…
Everyone’s Bro and Cuz - if we win, that’s nice… if not, we all still get paid.

I don't think many clubs are well respected other than Storm, Panthers, Roosters, Broncos and maybe Rabbits. I'm pretty sure these are the only teams that have won the comp in the alst 15 years as well bar 2 years.

As Terrell said, there is no loyalty to Clubs.

We are a crappie club but we are just as crap as Sharks, Titans, Cowboys, Parra, Raiders, Dogs etc in the eyes of current players who only really know footy post 2005.

In reality, we definitely should not be respected. We have no money, no systems, no culture and other than NRL's handout and the old Balmain/ Wests legends, we got nothing.

But most Clubs are in that position. 68-0 changes nothing, 3 wins in a row changes nothing.

Yes, it all sounds too cosy for a football team but I shudder to think where we'd be at without the bro culture, not ideal but at least the top 17 are reasonable.

I note that the teams you chose as respected all have sound administrative organisational structures behind them.

We can only hope - most of the sides below us on the ladder have played more games.
Storm still have the 2 byes we’ve already had.

With the for and against we’ve accumulated over the last month - finals is all but out of the question now

Odds probably against us at this stage. Next 2 weeks are huge and might well be decisive. 2 good wins at home and this game is a distant memory into a decent run home with Doueihi, May and then Sam Fainu and Twal back on board if its coming to the wire.

Need some luck but we are a chance. Api out next week is a real kick in the guts

You earn respect, it’s not something handed to you. We’ve been such an erratic collection of misfits for so many years that of course there is no respect.
Even in 2005 I think we were a surprise who popped out of the ground and then when right back down the hole.
It’s going to take years of grind, and results, before anyone gives us respect.
So that necessitates knowing what respect looks like, how to earn it, and which players/ coaches you need to build it.
I’m just not sure we are capable of doing that based on the current situation . And if any individual believes they’re stronger than the club something is seriously wrong imho.

Our team plays on emotion. Benji is very good at eliciting emotion out of them which is definitely a good thing, but how do you elicit discipline and repetitions out of them?

I know they all say "toughest pre-season ever", but if they had done enough reps of consistent line speed and support play, we wouldn't concede 50 points.

The good teams pay ex- army officers, top of the line psychologists, ex NFL trainers etc to make them a better athlete. Our best player in Terrell May ran marathons of his own accord to get his fitness right.

If you rely on emotion, this will happen, but, hopefully emotion is enough to get us enough wins that we can build off.

You've just identified our 4 best in their position and said they basically don't matter to our results....can't rely on them.

Who's the troll?

We lost but today is a new day. Marshall said it all in his press conference. We are down crucial players and the loss of Doueihi has been a real blow. I'll be back next week cheering for the WTs.
Brother, penrith not even last week beat the 2nd placed Warriors without Cleary, Yeo and Bizza. They certainly didn’t get pumped by almost 70. It’s the same every year for us, the only common denominator is HBG.

Shit even the lowly Dragons only lost 26-12 to Penrith. At least they have a crack and will be a decent team next year with their signings
There’s no excuse. I doubt that’s the first team the Panthers have come up against in the last 5 years that has been weakened. There was talk in the live game thread that the game was rorted. If it was, our players are the prime suspects.

Huh, have you actually seen yesterday's match CC, as that did not happen?

Some of the comments here lamenting the loss of Shane Richardson have me shaking my head.

The bloke just repeated the same old pattern, paid overs for a washed up player, leaving very little else to go around.

Yesterday's result was ample evidence. Copping 70 and not looking remotely close to pressuring the opposition. despite the guys trying hard says it all.

It may be even worse though, Richo was actively involved in assembling this roster to a degree that is rare.

At least the previous mob stuck around and faced the music. This bloke talked about crocodile rolls and then buggered off when things got tough,

You don’t think he would have been sacked if he stayed?
