I just realised the Warriors paid Niukore 650k??? The dogs paid Kikau 800k?? And we got Papalii for less than both of them... Is this the Wests Tigers we're talking about?

It's because Papalii wants to win a premiership.

I know you're joking but I'm of the firm belief that we will end up winning a premiership long before Parra ever do

Sorry not interested in anything those dunderheads have to say..

Wasn't too bad for once.
They did give the signing an A+. Was compared to a Gareth Ellis type signing for the club and a better prospective (value) signing than Finucane - who we'd offered $200K more to whilst Papali'i is in his prime. There's also some talk on Luciano Leilua.

Thanks, I agreed with their assessment and comparisons. A lot of good media about the WTs recently

I thought Brett Finch had it in for the Tigers until listening to this. Turns out he just calls it as it is, with a bit of mayo on top for impact.

Great get by WT. Yet journos can still find a negative.

Daily Telegraph rugby league writer David Riccio tweeted: “Good get by the Tigers — but $600k a season for Isaiah Papali’i That’s more than what Victor Radley, Payne Haas, Dale Finucane, Christian Welch and Tino Fa’asuamaleaui were on this year.”

Yes, and when those players get their upgrades they'll be getting their worth too. Seriously what a stupid comment, why compare the salary of a just upgraded player to salaries of players that are yet to be upgraded.. you think any of those guys will be on less than 600k after their current contract is up? The brains on these journalists.

Yes and he played better than Radley, Finucane, Welch and Tino this year…

And if he wanted to write a more balanced article he could have considered what Cronulla paid for Finnucane, how much any club would pay to lure Haas and Radley, and how much the Dolphins are going to throw at Tino.

It's because Papalii wants to win a premiership.

I know you're joking but I'm of the firm belief that we will end up winning a premiership long before Parra ever do

Absolutely, the window on Parra's chances to win a comp is closing. They are still a chance in 2022. After that our window looks breezier than theirs. We just need to keep the positive things happening that we have seen lately and have a decent 2022. Making the 8 next year would be enormous for 2023.

It’s already closed imo. There are a lot better sides than them in 2022. Panthers, Storm, Roosters, Souths, Manly, even the Dogs. I see them finish 6th at the absolute best.

Also, I hope he doesn't agitate for an early release. I lost all respect for the players who did it to us, such low-calibre brats. Having said that, if the club took the initiative to bring him over sooner, thats fair enough to me. Parra's on the ropes, lets rip a few body blows and see what might happen.

From Fox:

Quoting Sheens.

Isaiah Papali’i has signed for the Wests Tigers for the 2023 season and despite his departure there is one bit of good news for the Eels.

Papali’i has expressed no desire to leave the Parramatta side early and the Tigers are reportedly happy to see him stay and develop in the blue and gold jersey in 2022.

Regularly when a player signs a contract 12 months in advance the new club attempts to bring their star recruit over for the coming season, but not in this case according to Wests Tigers Director of Football Tim Sheens.

“It wasn’t even discussed during negotiations,” Sheens told Wide World of Sports.

“We are building towards 2023 and that is when Isaiah will be joining us - not before.”

Yeah saw that.
Good ol' Tigz... too honest for our own good...but I wouldn't want us any other way.

I read it as a slight jab at the knights.

I thought it more of a jab at Parra, basically saying "We know what you did with Moses and Matterson, we will take the high road"

I’d love to see him kill it at Parra all year and watch their fans implode that they didn’t up their offer to him .

How?

Coz the Knights are quite obviously chasing Brooks. They shouldn't be and are yet to suffer any repercussions for it, they're just pushing the envelope. The fact they're doing it in a way (through media personalities just giving their 2cents) that is yet to be determined as a no-no by the NRL the Knights are yet to suffer any consequences. The jab is that they shouldn't over-step the mark, mind their own bees-wax and abide by the rules like we do. At least thats my take take.
I'd like to see us school them coz like someone else said, we look weak not standing up to ourselves. Rather see a str8 right to the nose in the shape of a big fat fine.?

Unfortunately with this signing, it means I'll need to sit through eels games now just to see how he's playing 🤢
