Isaiah Papali’i #265

Five-eighth Jayden Sullivan, who is set to earn around $600,000 in the final seasons of his four-year deal, centre Brent Naden and veteran back-rower John Bateman are among those the club is willing to offload in a bid to rejuvenate Marshall’s roster.

This would be a great help

Still a joke it’s framed a dangerous tackle yet we lose a player for 8-10 weeks and he gets a $1800 fine. Again imagine if papali did the same tackle to Cleary what would the result be???
I'm sure Annusley and the NRL will review Holmes' special pre-Origin wrist-slap now that Papali'i requires an operation and is out for 10 weeks 🙄 Yeah, nah! More likely Holmes will get the Billy Slater Player of the Series Award in Origin while Klemmer gets suspended again for tripping over the dog ending his season due to the loading.

Brooks seemed to be injured regularly after he committed to Manly last year. I expect IP wont feature too much given we are no hope of playing finals.

Was it though?
Holmes escaping suspension would indictae his binning was an over reaction
Except:

"Cowboys centre Valentine Holmes was the other player charged in Round 12 and has accepted an $1800 fine after entering an early guilty plea to a Dangerous Contact charge.

Holmes was put on report and sin binned for a hip drop tackle on Wests Tigers second-rower Isaiah Papali'i in the 37th minute of Friday night's match."

To put it simply, why would we let Papali’i go a year before his contract expires without a suitable replacement lined up ?
How does this improve our team ?

I heard he asked if he could pay a second once in advance in case he wants seconds. Provisioning for future indiscretions - brilliant.

On occasions, just nowhere near often enough.

At a supposed $750k for next season and based on his form over the last season and a half, I am happy enough for him to be playing in whatever position and level elsewhere next year.
I don’t understand how Pascoe and the board thought these back ended contract wouldn’t bite them in the end? We’re still doing it, Galvin‘s contract goes up $100k each year, and there are others, but the worst example was Brooks’ which terminated at Over $1m.
I think Ciraldo must have looked at our roster and associated contracts and thought…”there’s still a lot to do with the roster.”

A suitable replacement is a current tier 1 International.
Don’t hold your breath.
