Haha why shouldn’t he have depression like the rest of us!!Heres the deal. At the very least push it till he plays the mental health card, cause a bit of a scene, because at least then it becomes very obvious to EVERYONE in the nrl that contracts mean absolutely nothing.
Make what up it's happening he is openly not committing to the club despite signing a contract - he will have an excuse or maybe more than one to support his change of heart whether we think it's valid or not.Why do people just make this stuff up? The Maguire sacking is not a "perfect excuse" unless it's a specific provision in the contract which, clearly, it isn't. Unless WT fold like a pack of cards he belongs to WT in 2023.
We’ve had to house a stack of contracted miss fits for the past 4 years+ so it’s time to deliver this idiot some home truths, his interview and body language has confirmed he won’t be coming (if given the choice).Papali'i' signed his contract knowing where WTs were on the table. A change of coach in that scenario is always a possibility. I'm sure when he accepted the money he did not have a "coach clause".
What's made up in your post is that sacking Maguire gives IP the perfect excuse. It doesn't, it's irrelevant. Unless it's a provision of the contract it has no bearing on his right to break it. It would be just as valid to use global warming or our position on the ladder as a reason not to come. If WT hold firm, he will be here.Make what up it's happening he is openly not committing to the club despite signing a contract - he will have an excuse or maybe more than one to support his change of heart whether we think it's valid or not.
It’s Pascoe bro, it’s all water off a ducks back , it is what it is. Chill out. It’s only a game.NEWSFLASH FOR IP
You do not get to 'decide after the Grand Final' mate. You already 'decided'...note the tense IP.
We have lost an entire season's worth of recruiting for a backrower as we already allocated 670 grand to YOU for the contract YOU signed.
YOU signed the deal...if you wanted Madge only, YOU could have inserted a coach clause.
You did not, nor did your manager.
There is no way the club can not enforce this. I don't care if he has a sulk all pre season. The Storm force deals, and we have absolutely no choice here but to do so also. We can never get back the 10 months we lost where we could have targeted another backrower.
Deal is done.
Be a grown adult and honor it.
If the club backs down...after Moses and Matterson and Aloia...we should just give up. Fold.
Sheens won't let that happen.
Three seasons.Nrl must rule if you breach contract you sit out season
If we stand up and set an example it should stop but not confident unfortunatelythe question is why does this always happen to our club.
Matto and Aloiai already set the precedent. This isn’t a new thing. If the NRL (let alone WT) allow him to get out of his contract, it'll set a shocking precedent for the future. You'll end up with dozens of elite (or close to it) players signing big money deals with lower clubs, who will inevitably have the cap space, and using it as a failsafe whilst they wait for their current club to come up with the $$ to match.
I suspect nine out of ten excuses that players currently use to get out of contracts are not written in. It wont stop them from using them. He probably has more that one for not wanting to honour the contract, and it is feasible to suggest that will be one of them - true / valid or not. What's made up in your post is that sacking Maguire gives IP the perfect excuse. Whilst that is very much an issue as well, it's quite a different situation and something that happens fairly regularly at other clubs as well.Matto and Aloiai already set the precedent. This isn’t a new thing.
Nah they agreed that we can continue to play home games in Brisbane for magic round 🤣Here's a thought. Maybe the concession WT wrested from the NRL in return for bowing out gracefully on the NQ two point fiasco was to stand firmly behind us if Paps tries to backflip. Not the silliest idea.
It is a game within rules and laws...It’s Pascoe bro, it’s all water off a ducks back , it is what it is. Chill out. It’s only a game.
Player kicks stones because they want to play for a better team for more money and ultimately breaks contract early. Seems pretty similar.Whilst that is very much an issue as well, it's quite a different situation and something that happens fairly regularly at other clubs as well.
Ultimately the whole CBA is an absolute mess, and the NRL and the NRLPA need to blow it all up and start again.
My thinking is that few players outside WT try to wriggle out of contracts. There have been a few players let go early by their clubs recently but they seem to have been by mutual agreement. If we decide to finally show some courage Paps won't have a leg to stand on, excuses or not.I suspect nine out of ten excuses that players currently use to get out of contracts are not written in.
