Isaiah Papali’i #265

This is all the side effects of being uncompetitive these last 10 years , players control the agendas including the competitor clubs as well as the NRL & Refs as we have recently found out. At this stage if he doesn’t come over it reflects more on management of the Club TBH

He’s not average.

Put it this way, would there be any media speculation about backflipping if he signed with us for a million?

Edit: I think we got him for fair market value for a top 8 side

I'm not stating he is average. I'm stating he has been given a fair value contract which I think you agree with. I bolded the part that is important.

If we signed him for a million we'd have screwed ourselves over.

It's a 3 year top dollar contract. It's a good deal for him. It's also a good deal for us.

We should just relax and see what happens. We shouldn't be offering a cent more because we should view ourselves as a top 8 side.

We beat out every other team when he signed a 3 year contract. It's a registered contract.

The club should quitely contact his manager and state we have a deal and there shouldn't be any discussions with any other club in relation to contracts for another 2 years as per the NRL rules.

Papalli is an interesting case we signed him for a fair value at the time. Had one great season. He’s now backed it up and his value is higher. He knows it as does his manager.

My view is Tigers have no choice they have to draw a line in the sand even if it hurts our salary cap. We simply buckle every time.

Thank for replies. Didn’t mean to put words in your mouth. I’m just saying why I think there is noise. Unfortunately top players don’t go to bottom 4 clubs for the fair market price.

If he wants out to go home to NZ I can cop that a little better then staying at Parra. Still disappointing, but more understandable. Not sure Warriors have anyone we could use. Harris is the wrong side of 30, Fonda Blake would be awesome but is on massive overs, Murchie and Curran have a go, I like their effort a lot, but both defensively make errors.

360 said thats bs he wants to stay at parra.

James Graham- Tigers must enforce the contract. If he’s unhappy that’s a state of mind which the Tigers should have the ability to change. There you go, wise words from a smart man. Let’s see if our muppets take his advice.
Love Jimmy Graham. Wish we could get him to our club in some capacity. He is the true definition of passion when it comes to rugby league.

He would walk into our club and instantly be the smartest bloke in the room. Everything he says is bang on common sense and he calls a spade a spade. Would see right through a bullshit internal review and tell Pascoe straight to his face you don’t do an in season doco you flip. Sign him up!

100 percent

Guess we will have to do a Tutty and force the contract issue and stand our ground ,unless we get extremely high compensation which we agree to . I think we have seriously watered down contracts by bending over for players who want to change their minds if they sign and then think immediately they can get more $$$$$ and threaten to tank or use the mental health issue as an excuse. Leasing players to other clubs midseason certainly hasn't strengthened contract values. Whole issue must come to a head soon
