Isaiah Papali’i #265

[Telltails]

You don't move forward on a player like IPap you bring other players to strengthen the quality of the squad. The very reason why players perform better in higher quality teams.

Thanks. We have taken our 14yo son to again enjoy the annual multiple day (up to 8 such as here, depending on the region) national water fight known as the Songkran festival along the eastern Bay of Thailand.

Then off to central Vietnam on Wednesday for a week, returning for several more days relaxing at a quiet beach to round off our break before returning to AUS on the 29th ready for the school term beginning the next day.

Sounds. Like it was a great trip I have friends that have done Songkran looks a lot of fun with the big SupaSoakers

yeah i do get that and dont disagree, but still doesn't account for some of his issues. I see a lack of desire in the extra effort area's. By no means is he on his own in that regard, i just don't rate the guy.

I sometimes think that we thought Papalii was great before he came to the Tigers because he used to tear our terrible defense apart.

He used to tear a few teams defences apart, and score tries, both of which have deserted him at Concord.
Pity coz we were relying on him for both.

[Jux]

A bench spot could see him be more effective, finding his replacement to start is the problem.

Could be like Seyforth who is always much better off the bench than starting.

Maybe just a swap with Pole to 13 and JB back to 2nd row. Unlikely but possible.

[Kaito]

A few people have suggested we move him to the middle. I've definitely warmed to this idea. He plays like a prop the back row at the moment.

Bring him off the bench in the middle and let Fainu and Bateman play either edge.

This is the way my old friend...

[balmain boy]

He's a bench prop, and should be named and played as per a bench prop.

8. Klemmer
9. Api
10. Stefano
11. Bateman
12. S Fainu
13. Matamua/Pole etc

14. Ice
15. Twal
...

[AmericanHistoryX]

Can we replace Stef and Klemmer also. Getting a bit boring also...

[The Chad]

Change in role- into #13 as some on here wanted. Hopefully this unlocks him!

Kiwi international Isaiah Papali’i is set to ignite the NRL transfer market after the Tigers back-rower was granted permission to leave the club with rival clubs set to circle.

It is understood that Papali’i is free to leave the Tigers at the end of this season which will spark a market frenzy with clubs already sounding out the 25-year-old whose $650,000 contract with the Tigers was due to expire at the end of next season.

Discussions heated up at Magic Round in Brisbane last weekend with clubs knowing that Papali’i has now joined the open market.

It means the likes of Penrith, Manly and Canterbury could pounce on Papali’i with the Panthers still on the look-out to fill the void created by James Fisher-Harris’ impending departure to the Warriors and the unsuccessful pursuit of David Fifita.

The Roosters’ Angus Crichton is the other marquee back-rower also a free agent. What is clear though, is that Papali’i’s time at the Tigers is set to come to a premature end.

Yeh that's disappointing... he cops a lot flack by our fanbase for being a dud but I have no doubt if he was on a semi decent team he'd be an absolute weapon. In his whole 18 months here I don't think i've seen one of our halves give him decent ball or put him through a hole.

[boonboon]

I think it's a case of choosing between him and Bateman given both are right edge backrowers. Don't want to lose him but neither work at lock and Ipap could get us a swap

[Demps]

Papalii hasn't achieved at the Tigers.
I don't think he wants to be here.

Good business move to be fair.
Hopefully we've got a plan here though.

Hopefully there is a bigger name lurking in the background

Doubt it going on previous experience of released players

[Le Tiger]

Sounds like we are fairly committed to developing Samuela as a 80 minutes edge back rower, meaning no place for Paps to be a starter.

Good move to free up cap space as long as we utilise it to strengthen the squad, not weaken it.

And will be. In a descent team.

[Tiger_Fanatic3]

Not overly a massive loss
Hasn’t really stepped up his game since joining the Tigers
The salary he is on, am not disappointed
Frees the cap, opens the door
