Give tedesco 10 years if he wants it. Surely we arent balking at a 5 year contract.

2 words. Chris Lawrence.

Young lawrence vs young tedesco = daylight, no comparison at all. Teddy could go on to be our best ever player. He could be the benji marshall talent that wins us another premiership. I know 10 is too long, but if the only issue with the contract is the 5 years then it should be a no brainer.

I think you forget just how good Lawrence was pre-hip injury. He was on track to being the best centre in the world. Sad people forget this.

Its also sad that people forget that Lawrence played for Australia and TORE IT UP….AFTER the hip injury. Im not sure what his problem has been but he was in career best form immediately after he came back from the hip injury.

I am more interested in who they are talking to from outside the club, because one thing is for certain the so called big four need plenty of help.

I would like Teddy's deal to be three with a option and Brooks and Moses both two with a option. As for contract value, Moses is worth no more than Brooks and I am one of the few who would probably take Brooks before Moses if it was my call.

I would not be surprised if Brooks ends up at the Brooks or Melbourne next year

The coaching situation of the last 3 years hasn't helped brooks in the slightest but he is on the nose at the tigers for what he was asking for. I'd hope he would sign and see what Ivan can do with him for the next 2 years atleast.
**As for other players full expect a clean out of the 16 players off contract you can probably say good bye to atleast half of them.**

A list of our off-contract players, so people can start speculating.

Matt Ballin, Luke Brooks, Michael Chee-Kam, Joel Edwards, Matt Eisenhuth, Tim Grant, Watson Heleta, Jamal Idris, Jack Littlejohn, Wesley Lolo, Kyle Lovett, Matt McIlwrick, Mitchell Moses, Kevin Naiqama, David Nofoaluma, Jordan Rankin, Ava Seumanufagai, Bayley Sironen, James Tedesco, Aaron Woods

Not me. I am Lawrence's biggest critic these days and think he should retire. But pre injury he was a hell of a player. Probably would have been origin centre had he not been injured.

Please fill me in, I am only 12 so don't know much of previous players.

What happened to Lawrence?

Dislocated a hip several years back… Never been the same since

He was absolutely incredible before the injury though.

Rowdy's injury, coupled with Simon Dwyer and TNT and we would have what we are missing now. :frowning:

No he wasn't. He was off the pace.

Except for when he played for Australia AFTER the hip injury in career best form.

Drives me mad that people forget taht and blindly say it was the hip.

So he didnt play for Australia after the injury? They hand out Green & gold jerseys for encouragement?

To be honest, Glenn I think he only got his Australian jumper because Sheens was the coach. Both he and Tuquiri were debatable selections that year.

I know he played for Australia, but he wasn't the same player. The fact Sheens was coach may have played a role in his selection. Chris Lawrence the player died the night his hip was dislocated at Ctown against the Raiders. After the injury he could no longer reach the same level and as a result his confidence suffered, which is why i think he drops the ball so much these days. He's lost confidence.

There is no way the Dogs would sign Moses before finding out what Foran wants to do. Also, why would the Dogs care about Cleary, they would announce it as soon as they can.

Wanna tell us a third time GlennB?

Nah… just responded to two and then GNR posted whilst I was making those posts. its a pet hate of mine (clearly). He injured his hip early 2011 but tore up for Aus late that year. He missed a lot of early 2012 with repeated hamstring issues. IMO its his hammies that have slowed him down based on his stellar form at the end of 2011 particularly for Australia. everyone automatic repeats the hip but he was on fire at the end of that year.

Poor Lawrence.

Why doesn't he just retire?

Checking out that video, I know it is the fad that when scoring they flop their body on the line rather than a one hander putting pressure on the ball. When there is no defender close by surely they can preserve their hips and playing years by scoring a one-hander?

You say he "tore it up" after he returned from the hip injury, yet in the video Tacky posted on the previous page, there isn't one second of that video that shows him post-hip injury. It was all pre-hip injury.

His test match for Australia in 2011\. I think this is post hip injury.

Less chance of dropping the ball… Keep it tucked into the arm against the chest and go to ground

Yes how many times have we seen one handed put downs stuffed up - coach killers!

I'm with the others, I'm afraid. I know he played for Australia after his injury but he was lucky to get selected. There were a few centres out and Sheens was coach. He wasn't much good.
