Its a player problem

Has anybody noticed that Wests Tigers has gotten worse as soon as Wests Ashfield has assumed full control of the club or is it a coincidence

A truly stupid comment.

I don't know about worse but we're no better. Wests, over the decades, have never been run well.

Still reeks of a poor organisational culture.
Every single fault can be attributed back to poor club structures, systems, processes and cultures - our leadership, strategy, management (including risk management) and the whole character of the club.
On almost every level as a club we seem incompetent or vulnerable with little handle on the state of things.
We have a mountain of challenges with many undefined and no methods to improve or correct them

Its a combination problem.

We have a coach who has no answers.

We have a coaching staff who aren’t adapting

Our so called leadership group are leading by example and the rest are following them.

Our young brigade are having a dig and getting stuck in but have no support from the so called leaders of this team.

Tamou isn’t a captain.

No significant player activity wants to join us. TPJ would be a great addition but we need another 3-4 players aside from him to even get us next season being a 8-6 spot contender. At this rate we have 5-6yrs of suffering ahead of us if we are banking on youth.

It isn't a board problem, a Madge problem or anything like that - it's a player problem. Our team is filled with and for numerous years has been filled with lazy, undisciplined, mentally weak, poor character, inconsistent players. Its a player problem through and through.

How anyone could think a renowned idiot like TPJ who has some of the worst intangibles in the game would make this pack of lazy and pathetic players any better is beyond me.

We need players with character like Finucane, who always put in, prepare properly and do the basics every play - you know like actually stand at marker.

I'm so sick of it. Call a spade a spade. The reality is that a good 50% of player who have worn the WT jersey over the last 10 years are mentally weak, lazy, stupid and poorly diciplined.

You better believe I would have said a lot more if it was allowed

80% of this team were recruited by Madge and the current recruitment team.

I don't see how you can say it is not on him.

The one big exception is Nofa...who is very poor and mentally very, very casual. Him being a leader is a huge reason for why we are like this and it seems the CEO should own that one / not Madge.

But the vast majority are Madge's players.

If its a culture problem, which it probably is.
Like turning a container ship around strap in for many more years disappointment.

It will takes years upon years to change the culture effectively

Its an everyone problem who bought the signings in of these players, who extended them. The board, the senior management and the coaching staff. Yes the players play but they are trained by the coaches handed game plans ect so if the current crop of players arent up to it, its an organisation problem the whole joint has a finger in the pie.

Its a whole club problem, everything has changed over the past 10 years a number of times..including coaches, players, CEO’s and chairmans…can we just accept we are toxic and won’t get better..

Lots of posts above are saying it’s a culture problem.

Culture, or more importantly, applying the cultural values in daily work activities is every employee’s (coach, player and staff) responsibility and I would say that is shockingly absent.

however without doubt the cultural health of an organisation is the responsibility of the organisation’s leadership. The board, which sits at the apex of the organisational hierarchy with ultimate authority and accountability for the organisation, is part of the organisation’s leadership along with executive management, and therefore must have the ultimate role in forming and monitoring the culture.

Not happening here.

Not till there’s a complete board revamp unfortunately

i agree, 100%, if we keep buying 2nd tier players, or players at the end of there careers, or players who cause problems, or players who have a history of being injured, these are the players we have been buying for the last 10 years, you look at the top teams, they have 3 or 4 top tier players, and the rest of the team has good workers, west tigers had the best young players coming thru out of all the teams in the competition, but you need people who can bring them thru the grades and teach them how to get better, you look at melb and easts, players improve under there care, if we have know top tier players then go and buy a couple, if you have to pay overs then do so, dont buy two 2nd tier players, for the same money you would pay for a top tier player, its so frustrating to watch coach after coach keep buying players, who we dont want

I'm not a mod lads..
But, profanity is not permitted.

Here's a friendly reminder,
We're all on the same team.

I don't want ANYONE banned over petty squabbles, profanity, or any thing like that.

I'd suggest stop quoting the post with profanity.

And if @hobbo1 , @happy_tiger or myself were mods, this would've been tidied up already.

Let's keep this place clean.

We have never been successful buying other clubs players. We have only done well when we developed and bought through our own. Look who we have bought over the last few years - most have been poor and taken up large amount of our cap. We need to stop looking for blokes like tpj bj jtj and develop our own kids. More of the Alex Seyfarths and the like. Our jersey Flagg side and Reggie’s are going well - let’s keep the good ones from these teams and develop them through. Sheensy can’t come quick enough.

look at cini...cult hero one week, rough game the next then dropped....now mamaulo is here what is cini to think or do?

he should've had a longer run in the team imo

Surely if he is that good then he goes back to KOE and tears it up?

Ive seen a few here suggest that Madge "broke his spirit" and if thats the case then NRL is not for a fragile spirit like that and he would have had many disasters like his last effort.

It's not anymore. We have lives away from the forum. Also helps when people report posts.

Trouble is none in the KOEC have.

If we have reached a point where there is alot of finger pointing within the ranks, we are in trouble.

I understand what you mean but I also get the shits seeing players keep making stupid errors and team mates going over to give them a cuddle. Teams with a winning culture and set standards can afford to do that but for us I think we need to strip things back and drive some standards about what is accepted and what isn’t. We don’t need to pull apart but there should be enough buy in from players to understand when you stuff up repeatedly it’s not acceptable.
