I am still trying to think of another example of a club losing three above average Australian Schoolboy juniors in one off season.
West’s lost 3 internationals to Manly, another international and a player who would play origin the next year to Newtown, all at the end of the 1979 season.
Wests actually had made the top 5 for the past 2 years, and again in the 1980 season after they all left.
I do remember that now. No wonder the ill feeling between Wests and Manly. Funny, quite the opposite between Balmain and Manly with the links of Frank Stanton, Steve Martin, Ian Thompson etc.
Les Boyd, Ray Brown, John Dorahy to Manly & Tommy, Graeme O'Grady to the Jets.
I was 16 or so and really bought into the whole fibros/silvertails things as well, funny how your outlook on things changes as you mature

@ said:@ said:@ said:So it confirms Gus lied, penrith wanted/offered him a deal for next year
I thought that was already proven when he told Weedler, that they had no plan B if Ivan doesn’t sign.
What happened to the 12 applications he got overnight after he sacked Griffen?… :roll ....I suppose they never existed, just another Gus media manipulation statement
@ said:Cleary catches up with Panthers chairman again
The whispers about Ivan Cleary making an early exit from the Wests Tigers won't go away. And this photo of the Tigers coach talking to Penrith chairman Dave O'Neill in the corporate boxes of ANZ Stadium prior to the Panthers-Warriors elimination final only added fuel to the fire.
If you look closely they weren't in the same box. O'Neill was in the NRL suite while Cleary was a guest of real estate giants Domain.
**Speaking of real estate, it's interesting to note Cleary's Leonay home, which it was claimed O'Neill was interested in buying and was the reason they met up two months ago, is no longer on the market. Let the conspiracies begin!**

Could also have something to do with the state of the real estate market.

@ said:There are no conspiracies Cleary will be back at Penrith in 2021 and Nathan will sign there.
He will leave us in a better position than he started and we move on. He will resign Brooks, Marsters and bring in a few players.
We will be stronger and in a position to probably upgrade the coach.

IF that is the case , are we better off moving NOW and getting the best coach available NOW instead of seeing them all pinched off the market and being left with a lesser quality option at that stage
It's a tough question but it needs serious looking at and serious answers

Look…just let Ivan complete his ground work, weve a season and a half invested already...lets allow him to make us an even more attractive proposition in a few years time if he does leave....were improving I dont see that changing too drastically too soon
Plus...there may be better available in future...we just dont know

21st Birthday present to Nathan, so he does not have to travel too far to training.

Who wouldn't want to live in penrith rather than northern beaches
