Ivan Cleary - THREAD..

I doubt IC would leave the Tigers for the panthers as he has full control of the team he is building and doesn't have to take orders from Gould and also him and Pascoe are good mates

Ben Matulino, Russell Packer and ET are 3 players that signed with our Clubs for the sole reason that Ivan was Coaching them , Gee i hope they haven't got clauses in there Contract that they were able to leave if Ivan left…..the Club wouldn't be that stupid ?

I don't know what some people are freaking out about - Ivan Cleary cannot go to Panthers, even if he wanted to.

Tigers would have to release him from his contract.

Sure there's precedent with players, but the head coach is a single unit - you need a viable alternative to make that kind of decision, e.g. Tigers lining up Wayne Bennett or something.

Ivan can't just walk out, he'd be in breach of contract and we could sue him, prevent him coaching elsewhere, cease paying him, ask the NRL for a coaching cap allowance and get another coach in.

Everyone is saying that but we don't know Ivan's style of thinking.

In this Day and Age nothing would surprise me , but if our Board allow him to walkaway with 2 years left on his Contract after sacking JT and all the dramas we've had to endure for years then get Robbie back.
I promise 1 thing the Club will not get 1 single dollar out of me and my Membership will be tossed out if they allow Ivan to go , this Club would deserve to be folded for embarrassing the Brand .

Surely the Club and Board have enough respect for there sponsors and fans 😕

If Ivan quits not much the board can do about it if he takes a job offer somewhere else. Gould hasnt taken this risk for nothing must think he is a chance of luring him back.

Yeh I want the board of my club coming out with media releases everytime the media pulls a story out of thin air…..

:crazy

I'm hoping some of you guys are just being sarcastic

The media are in overdrive. There are articles all over the web linking Cleary to Penrith. All speculation and just quoting each other but wouldn’t the best way to stop all this speculation be for Pascoe and Cleary to stand side by side and say “ it’s all rumour. Nothing changes here at Wests Tigers. Ivan is here for the long haul.” Done, finished. Focus moves from us to others.

Simple I would think

That is what a Professional Organisation would do YES , but Wests Tigers ? expect the unexpected

I'm sure Robbie and Benji still be front and center tmrw to reassure us.

Yeah Contracts mean jack this Day and Age unless Wests Tigers approve it he won't be going anywhere , not until 2021.

The only way that he can go if he has a clause in his Contract that allows him to leave if he gets an offer from the Club where his son is playing….that could be the only thing .

This is becoming comical. Another club sacks its coach, which in turn, prompts the forum into a collective meltdown with two or three threads running, with everyone and their dog lining up to bash OUR club. Only on this forum.

Why cant he quit? Gives notice now, I dont see what breach that incurs. Ricky Stuart did as much at Parra and went to the Raiders.

Tigers won't let Cleary go as Panthers discuss possible return

Wests Tigers chairwoman Marina Go has declared she expects Ivan Cleary to see out his contract at the club despite interest from Penrith to reunited him with son Nathan at the Panthers.

Anthony Griffin’s sacking, which was revealed by NRL.com on Monday, has opened the door for Cameron Ciraldo to assume the role of caretaker coach for the rest of the year.

However, it is understood the Panthers approached Ivan at the end of last month about the possibility of returning to his old club, where his son plays, to replace Griffin next year.

Wests Tigers would be surprised if their coach tried to gain a release to return to Penrith given the characteristics that Ivan values, and also the circumstances in which he was punted by the Panthers three years ago.

Go was adamant the club expected Ivan to see out his current deal which expires at the end of 2020.

"It is my view that Ivan will be with the Wests Tigers as head coach for at least another two years as he has a contract with us," Go told NRL.com on Monday night

Someone posts a quote from Marina Go saying he has a contract, and she cops it. This after hours of demands that the club make a statement lol.

So if our Club allow IC to walk away from his final 2 years with us and take up the job at Penrith you would be proud of our Club and how it handled it all? Mind you after sacking JT after 2 Rounds last year to bring Ivan Claery then to be topped off by bringing Robbie back who supposedly was the one responsible in all the dramas for years.

You can be proud of our Club but sure as Hell many won't be .

Lets have that conversation when/if it actually happens.

If he was to wind up there, id say it will be more likely to happen in 2021\. If Gus signs Ciraldo for 2 years, then Nathan re-signs on a long term deal in November, then would be the time to start worrying.

He could do a Moses on us and seek a release pleading mental health issues…..

Dont have much faith in contracts when someone wants out. Clubs seem to cut their losses and move on. I would be surprised if they held him to it - if in fact that is the case.
I guess we will see soon enough.

I'm obviously talking IF the Club did allow it to happen .
I think Ivan has self worth and holds good Life values to break his current deal with us to go to Penrith , i would be shocked that someone of Ivan's values would do it , Nah no way Ivan won't be going back there while Gus is at the helm.

Until Cleary or Pascoe shut it down themselves then speculation will go on.

Some half assed comment from Go roughly saying believe Clary will stay because he has a 2 year contract doesn't exactly fill me with 100% confidence.

Again maybe it is a good thing that the press are focussing on Ivan , not our must win game v our bogey side

The more I think about it , why couldn't have Ivan and Nathan stuck a spanner is Penrith's and Gus's works …...
