I still believe sanity will prevail and Ivan will remain at WT. **Ivan Cleary is an exception to the NRL textbook in terms of methodology and honour,** fingers crossed that is still the case.

:blah :blah

The same Ivan Cleary who left the Warriors mid contract. Stop romancing what a wonderful person he is. He'll what's best for his family, not us.

I don't really think behaving in a grossly dishonourable fashion would be good for his family.

That’s a matter of opinion,

If the club decided an any time in the length of Cleary,s contract , that they didn’t want him any more, they’d have no hesitation in cutting him immediately .
And what did we do to Potter, Farah, and the Anti Coach, when they decided that they
didn’t want them?.?

Broken contracts everwhere.
Even the great honourable Bennett reneged on his word about going to East

It’s happening all the time especially involving players.
Why kick up so much noise about Ivan doing the same thing ( allegedly)
Some could look at it as just Karma

Purely because it’s us. Other wise it wouldn’t get more than a couple of pages here.

You do realise that the Tigers would have to pay out is contract if they cut him, that is the difference.

Well that's really just you trying to justify dishonourable conduct on the basis that other people have acted dishonourably. It doesn't change the fact that he would have to make the personal decision to act dishonourably. We all face those choices and some of choose to do the right thing rather look for justifications to do the wrong thing.

The main reason I got behind Cleary is his character. If, and I emphasise, IF he wants out I would like the Tiges to get out on their terms. $3,000,000 is what I would ask.

He hasn’t demonstrated enough as a coach over 3 clubs to keep him after him trying to do the dirty on us.

He has done well here but not well enough that I would want anything to do with him. We should stick by our no DH policy

Talk about jump the gun.

Let's wait and see if he wants to go before putting in the slipper.

I think that was the whole point of him saying "If, and I emphasise, IF"…

People so conveniently miss this….to ironically, sink the slipper in :unamused:

If he doesn't leave, this thread is going to be hilarious to read back on. Some of his most staunch defenders have completely turned. Do they do a complete 360 if he does stay and go back to supporting him unconditionally?

If he does leave, it tops anything Taylor did, and i dare say the forums opinion of Cleary will be lower than JT.

don't forget the other thread asking who to target for the next coach!

You dont know what 'if' or 'it seems' means?

:brick:

Your thread is titled "**New Coach, who should we target**?

Followed by "**looks like Ivan's gone**"

Do you know what IF or IT SEEMS means?

Keep banging your head son, might do you some good.

Talk about putting a scare through the camp, I honestly cant see Ivan moving to Penrith to take the chocolates for someone else's hard work, and leaving a club where he has been given full control to develop a team and culture, I reckon Gould has it in his mind the only way to keep Nathan is by throwing the kitchen sink at Ivan, A rash and impulsive decision that Gould and the Penrith board may regret.
If griffin is not the right coach and its not just about securing Cleary than he must believe theres a chance to win the comp this year with Ciraldo's playbook.
Either way i think Cleary and Cleary will be in weststigers colours in 2020 and hopefully beyond.

I think he will stay, but would be mad not to use the approach by Penrith to discuss with the Tigers an upgraded contract, after all he has the upper hand in negotiations with Nathan up his sleeve. Perhaps that's what the delay is.

If he goes with Penrith then I have misjudged his character completely, and his integrity is trashed.

Of course they would, but they’d only do that because they would have to,
That doesn’t alter the facts that stuff like this happens regularly in professional sport, ask Hook,
Once a club doesn’t want you , you’re Toast

As I said earlier, maybe Ivan knows the quality of the players wel be likely to get next season, and doesn’t want to put his son into that, when ,if he goes to Penrith it’s better for Nathan .

I’ve thought ever since the father /son talk got louder, that unless he Could gaurantee at least a half a dozen better players would be here, Would he want to have Nathan take a step backwards.
I don’t think there’d be many fathers here who would want their son to take that risk .
Maybe he knows that that is the case?

That is the way i see it also

The way it looks from the news articles, Weststigers might have both Cleary's for 2019, or no Cleary's for 2019, I will wait for Ivan to say something

It's funny how the League World works, Gus is not accountable to anything ,he's responsible for extending Griffin's contract till the end of 2020 at the beginning of the year and Griffin has made the finals the last 3 years.
Nice to be in Gus's World

I'm very calm, not sure about the dramatic though. Might be a standard reply you have? , don't think it applies to me.

My point was, someone mentioned the fun at reading back through the chicken little posts when this is sorted and I mentioned your clanger of a thread being the king of all "sky's falling" titled " new coach, who should we target" i didn't mention you specifically because you come across quiet emotional on here and i really didn't want to be involved in that…but here we are. Anyways, you can distance yourself from the comments all you want. The fact is, you saw a Face twittergrambook and went ahead and threw the Ivan out with the bath water. all good, we all get caught up in these types of things from time to time. As you were.

Bingo!

Yo! Drama's getting high like a king tide here!
Obviously Ivan to see Ivan stay but for now it's still ambiguous. Maybe in a few days time we'll see the result more clearly and I'm hoping it'll be a gould result for us.
Up the Tigers!

This is only a week ago, by all reports AFTER he met with anyone regarding the Panthers. None of it sounds remotely like he is thinking of leaving.

That's exactly what I was thinking, Gus talked to Ivan 2 weeks ago then Ivan comes out with this statement.
