Ivan Cleary - THREAD..

NRL have the final say regardless of being under the cap or not.
What your suggesting should the NRL allow it would set a precedent I highly doubt they'd want in the game… Trading coaches and players.. Nuh uh

After just hearing on 360 what transpired in the meeting with Penrith, Cleary needs to leave now.

What’s been said?

Kent spoke of a “meeting” that was held 2 weeks ago in which to discuss Nathan’s development. Supposedly, Panthers offered Ivan a contract for 2021/2022 yet Ivan suggested next year. Genuine or not there’s a ring of truth in it all.

Josh Reynold’s reaction to it all was surprising. He spoke more out of concern for his teammates during Kent and Ikin’s questions. But Luke Lewis said it best by stating something like “Why would you want to go back to the same club that sacked you for not being good enough and didn’t believe in you instead of staying with a club that believes in what your building”.

**So speculation or not the cat is out of the bag and either way (what happens with Ivan) it’s damaging for us.**

Why? When the Club stands strong in the face of rumours

Ivan is contracted to tigers til end of 2020\. Do you think that Pascoe will just give him up for nothing?

If I was running the show (which I should be  ) this is what I say to Gould:

You can have Ivan Cleary for 2019 and 2020 but you send us josh mansour James fisher Harris and James tamou. And also you will still pay their contracts until 2020\. That’s how you get Ivan now. Otherwise wait another 2 years mate.

It’s called leverage. Then you see how much Penrith really want to keep their halfback.

Mansour sucks
So does Tamou

Was just an example mate.

Ok then …
What if the so called Penrith
“ leverage” players refuse to come ?

Pipe dreams mate !

Lol

If all that's coming out is true how poor is it from Ivan, moved players on brought players in Matulino moving over from NZ along with Lolohea all under the guise he will be here for a particular time frame. I know nothing is a given in Rugby league especially loyalty, but all the crap about the bus, he's the man for the rebuild and then this. As someone else said previously I think he has said he wants to work with his son at some stage, they didn't specify it had to be this year or next. NC is in the embryonic stage of his career it could happen a few years down the track, either here or there. Ivan could finish his rebuild and link up in a couple of years. Perhaps it's not as much about working with his son as it is about Penrith reversing a truck load of cash up his driveway.

I don’t know Ivan but I’d agree with SG that he seems a man of integrity.
This is the hope I’m clinging to in this situation.
I’m hoping the club has countered the Panthers and offered a 2 year extention to Ivan and continued discussions about Nathan.
Fingers crossed!

Mate he spent years idolizing gould he is a bullshit artist

Just because it hasn’t been done doesn’t mean it can’t be done. Tigers traded Moses for twal and mccilwrick for Farah. This is no different other than it’s a coach instead of a player. And tigers have all the leverage if infact Penrith are chasing Ivan that hard.

Iam just hanging out to hear what our coach has to say about the events of today. I get the feeling he will push the line that he wants to coach Nathan and Nathan wants to stay at Penrith.

Anyway he certainly has not rushed to put his case out there. I just think for a guy who prides himself on being a straight shooter and a man of integrity that he has done his reputation some real damage.

Be interesting to see what happens tomorrow, for me I don't care if he leaves as if your coach is not 100% behind the club what hope do you have

Ivan you will go down in history as a quitter
What a disgrace
Face the tigers fans
Step out to the middle of the field at half time and face the crowd
Explain youself

Should’ve clarified more. Very proud of Justin’s efforts no matter what result we get. But If Ivan goes it will definitely have an effect on fans and shareholders. **Then if he stays, I’m sure some of the playing group as well as fans would lose a certain level of respect for him.** **A coach who’s priority was his son over a team** would make a lot of people question things.

Well firstly, as a father, I can say without equivocation that my son and daughter come first above all else on this planet and I will venture to say that many fathers will echo my sentiment.
Secondly, why would anyone, other than those buying into media rumours, lose respect for Ivan Cleary? Because Phil Gould wants us to? What has Ivan Cleary done that would make anyone to lose respect for him?

The Tigers certainly won those swaps getting Twal and HRH. More of it.

Thanks SG.

Regardless of your source I think you describe the situation pretty accurately. West’s finally have some power and look like they are in a mindset to use it. A few chicken littles around these parts today.
