And with turf toe... (edit) or something

I thought it was the extra contract money slowing him down 🙂

I would have thought not having the weight of all WT's supporters hopes and dreams on his shoulders would have made him quicker than Usain Bolt

He was, but the referee in his typical cheating way decided not to let it be seen at the critical moment.

Cause whilst they are paying overs, neither one of the three will be above 700 like Jrey, Packer or Mbye (thx again Ivan).

We overpayed for over the hill players - Dogs are paying on potential and in JAC a player who is on top of the players in his position

Bulldogs will throw big coin at him, more than anyone else most likely. They need a fullback pretty badly, we’ve signed Laurie for 2022 so we’ll probably try sign JAC to play wing but doubt he goes for that.

Or Laurie plays five eighth or wing if we get JAC??

Many panthers fans, and phil gould, have said that Laurie is more of a 5/8 than fullback. I sure wouldn't want to go all in on a kid who doesn't yet have a primary position.

Then he is perfect for us. Madge can put the names of Laurie, AD, Mbye, Talau, AJ in a hat and draw names out at random. I like these players be we have so many players who are *almost* a FB or *almost* a 5/8.

Apparently on big dollars.

Burton at $800k per season. He had better be unreal. Put it this way that is Mbye/Packer/Reynolds type money. To me that is close to being one of the top players in the comp and he isn't even a regular first grade player. The figures that get reported have to be overinflated.

Isn't DWZ also on above 500k ?

I don't know if we should try and pay JAC $800k per season ?

Dogs already have:
Thompson 850k
DWZ 850k
Jackson 750k
Cotric 650k
Hopoate 650k
Hetherington 500k

And apparently want to throw 500k at Burton, 800k at jac and a million at B.Smith? lol

Guys it was 800k for 2 seasons, not 800k PER season.

Also highly suspect alot of the above is subsidised by the players previous clubs.

As per David Riccio it was 1.6M for 2yrs.

I think there's been mixed reports.

"The Bulldogs have also shot themselves out of a cannon about Panthers young gun Matt Burton and tabled a two-year deal worth around the $800,000 mark."

That seems a much more sensible offer albeit still a lot. The 800k a season that Riccio was dribbling about seems a bit far fetched and very poor reporting on his part.

Well still, James Hooper said that, so who really knows which one is right. I wouldn't trust either.

I did have a good quick look around, and most sources didn't specify a price on the contract.

Well JAC appears to be following LM play book use the tigers to start his bidding war , without ever wanting really to come here , we got to stop going after these type of players .

He’s fielding offers from multiple different clubs. Sounds like we offered way less than what he wanted as well. Every player talks to multiple clubs we can’t just not try sign them

No, only Hetherington, for which the panthers are chipping in about 100k next season. The rest is all bulldogs. They already have a heap of bad contracts.

This just demonstrated the lack of quality halves available.

This is the result of jr rugby league not allowing halves to get tackled, essentially turning young halves into robots that just catch and pass a ball.
Now that they're of age they haven't developed the skills necessary to be an NRL half.
It's only going to get worse

By my calc. 5.75 mil on 8 players, doesn't leave much for the rest.

Burton wanted 800k per season and apparently was not going to be released for 2021.
Same money as JAC and same scenario so I suppose they can cut Hopoate at end of
next year as he will be off contract.

Interesting listen on SEN this afternoon. Interview with famous sprint coach Roger Fabri who was asked the fastest footballer he had worked with. He said over 100m definitely JAC but over 50, our very own James Roberts.

I can settle for tries scored from the half way line.

Brooks is quick over 40 so if he's on we could have a support runner as well
