I like the idea but not sure how it works.

Say he gets an extra 150k for playing 'x' amount of games at fullback, does that mean we need to leave 150k free in the salary cap in case he plays fullback?

I had the same thought. Unsure how this would work.

Could be set up for future year payment OR may require Tigers keeping some cap available.

Plus if we find ourselves in that situation, it'll mean he's made a fist of fullback.

Perfect scenario.

JAC has shown he has one necessary characteristic for a good FB - speed. But there are others: like positioning, defence/organisation, passing game, etc. Also, some could argue that he never played FB
in the NRL.
So I support this KPI based salary payment, as it would be too risky to spend FB money (again, Mbye, and AD) on an unproven FB.

Yeah but let’s say he’s on 550k but 800k if he plays fullback. As far as the salary cap is concerned we have to treat him as an 800k player just in case he gets his bonuses.

If like JAC proposed incentive deal we had that for half our squad there would be a lot of hungry players

Incentives are ok until you have to pay them they have to be allowed for in the Salary Cap so you wouldn't want to many of them I can see this turning a sour deal Newcastle had one a few years back and when the player only need one first grade game to play he was never selected in FG again and it ended in court innovatitive idea but could bite us

That was not good faith by the sound of it

Young would be an astute signing. I don't know what Hodgson brings to the table other than being a club legend and Webster has been around for an eternity. Time for some fresh blood!

I’m sure jac would like to be coached by him considering he is his favourite player

And if he doesn't trigger it, you'll just bring forward other payments. Zero net loss.

If he gets moved back to wing then theres a chance of the player feeling he's getting moved to save money. His manager would be straight into his ear.

Josh Addo Carr deal makes perfect sense both parties want him to perform at fullback. If he doesn’t cut it he is a great winger. I also doubt the incentive is anymore than 50k. Fox is not an 800k fullback.

Tamou is a solid veteran would probably be captain. We lack leadership and a front rower that does all the 1%ers.

We need 3 more forwards at least and somehow move on a few players Reynolds. Mbye, Packer.

I like how the club is thinking outside the box, first with the Grant/Momo swap and now this.
You often see players have their best season when they're off contract, we will get that all season long from JAC who will have all the motivation in the world to make it work. No doubt he will back himself.

Even if we pay 500grand in subsidy on each of these underperformers it would give us $900,000 to spend on new players,. Just do it!

I wouldn't be surprised if nothing came out until Melbourne's season is over they probably wont want anything more to come out until aftet their finals campaign. Same goes for Smith

Johnston drops certain try
NRL: Alex Johnston dropped the ball on what would have been a certain try for South Sydney.
The South Sydney Rabbitohs were in secret negotiations to sign champion Melbourne Storm winger Josh Addo-Carr before backflipping to keep Alex Johnston.

The club’s head of football, Mark Ellison, had been in discussions with Addo Carr’s manager, Mario Tartak, for several weeks and made a verbal offer.

Kayo is your ticket to the 2020 NRL Telstra Premiership. Every game of every round Live & On-Demand with no-ad breaks during play. New to Kayo? Get your 14-day free trial & start streaming instantly >

At the last moment the offer was withdrawn.

The Rabbitohs were concerned it would be a public relations nightmare.

That it would be wrong to tell Johnston there was no room in the salary cap then bring in another winger on more money. Not when fans were running an online petition to keep Johnston at Redfern.

A public relations nightmare prevented Josh Addo-Carr from joining Souths.

Addo-Carr is now set to sign with the Wests Tigers in the next 48 hours.

He is already looking for a home to buy in Sydney’s inner west.
