So many times over the years Weststigers have made silly signings based on positional play, " If your a rock don't pretend to be a precious metal"
JAC is a natural winger! If WT sign him based purely on him wanting to be a fullback and it goes pear shaped it will effect the whole team no more than Adam Doueihi. I reckon JAC is worth $600 as a winger and nothing more, spend the rest on a top hooker, you know the rest. Further to add to development... Tommy is a good kid, but man, he needs to do some serious sprint training, have a look a the best backs over the years, run bloody hard like Billy Slater, Gary Jack and stop dropping your head and kicking stones when you stuff up, Harden up lad and 'RUN

Interesting comment last night from Fittler about JAC and Ferguson. He said both are very hard trainers and great for morale in the dressing room.

JAC is worth what it takes to get him to WTs. Making false economies similar to a petulant child over his contract value will ensure we remain in inertia.

Talau has had a tough initiation, coming into a team being on the wrong end of scores. I will never forget his clean break from left centre against Manly demonstrating a good turn of pace and running freely. It is a pity we didn't have JAC screaming up in support to run the 50 metres to score. They are the opportunities you miss with wingers lacking genuine pace over 100m. Talau is one you keep perhaps no better highlighted than the Storm's interest in him (if true).

I would like very much to have JAC here,

I am very concerned that this Very good player looking for a fat contract and that the Tigers are going to overpay again.

As long as JAC wants to come to the Tigers I do not care how much or where he wants to play ... this team need quality players the positions will work themselves out .1st priority is to get the signatures of quality players.

If we're looking at JAC as a fullback then I think the better signing with more upside is Charlie Staines who has far more recent experience as fullback in the Panthers system, is tall, quick and powerful, and probably comes at half the price.

This is a current origin level player we can’t be picky. We need guys like him at the club we are desperate for a big name signing

So much this

Just get him here and work out the rest later

We’re paying mbye 900k odd to plod around, we can’t do any worse

a player is worth what two clubs can offer him, if we play hard ball and offer 600k and souths offer 750k and likely make finals theb where will he go it will be souths. We need to pay big for one or two and turn our roster around.

Is Staines even proven? I remember we had a young fella called Jake Meaney who carved up in u20s aswell

Staines has polished off a few tries in a red hot penrith side.

Some reckless opinions here... Would rather a proven fullback rather than a wannabe

Absolutely.

Would rather JAC on the wing and spend fullback money on a fullback, not cave into a manager trying to fatten up his client's (and his by proxy,) wallet.

I just hope if JAC is talking to us, we are a genuine option for him. I hate what it appears that dog Latrell did to us, stringing us along, when it looked like he had his mind set on Souths all along and was just using us with no intention of ever joining us.

(Spoken like a true burned lover who hasn't gotten over it.)

Yes for sure! I would love him back here, but I’m still finding it hard to believe that he would actually want to come here, it will be such a come down for him after playing for Melbourne for all those years. I wonder what would make an elite player want to take a backwards step like that? I know he and his family are Tigers supporters and all, but this is a career decision, sentiment shouldn’t really come into it.

I think we need both.
Our backline is then set for immediate future.
If the cap numbers fall to 28 the players like Cini, Bradley and Maden are offered send tier contracts and have to fight their way into top squad via lower grades..... their existing minimal contracts are paid out.

I tend to agree. Staines has always been a fullback and is very highly rated.

Backline of:

1. Staines
2. Nofoaluma
3. Leilua
4. Talau
5. JAC
6. AD
7. Brooks

Would be pretty good.

Id be surprised too..
Figure we shld pay top winger $$$ for him, which is around about $500.If he wants fullback $$ then only Bulldogs wld be silly enuff to pay it.Remember Valentine Holmes as a shining example...
On the other hand,Bunnies/Roosters etc as premiership contenders cld pick him up as a winger for $400 or so.
So it all gets back to whether he truly wants to play here..and frankly I doubt it given the above

That’s as good a backline as we could hope for. Good balance hey.

Walters, Madden covering half’s. Asu, Momo & Hoffman covering centre/wing.

I like the doobster at 5/8. Mbye at 14 would be a good utility that can cover all positions if needed.
