It's a bit weird (but typical of WT) that we would want to bring back a winger, in JAC, to play fullback when we let a fullback go, in Ryan Papenhuyzen, to the club that JAC would be leaving!!!

I'd love to know what Bellamy thinks of JAC's prospects of becoming an effective fullback??

Sorry, but I'm not so ethused about JAC's signing if it is for fullback.

Have you not been reading the news lately, Bellamy has stated that he thinks JAC will make a good fullback.
I said earlier imagine him with his speed in a roving FB role, could be fantastic.

I have been reading the news but probably not as closely as you have been. Thanks for clarifying.

The earlier comments from Bellamy a week or two ago were "i think he has the attributes he could become a good fullback, but i see him as a winger"

Speaking to the media on Thursday, head coach Craig Bellamy revealed his thoughts on Addo-Carr moving to the No.1 jumper at a rival club next year.
“Without a doubt, I think he would be a good No.1. I think it is a different sort of fitness playing the wing and fullback," he said.
"He’d probably have to make a couple of little changes there, but I couldn’t see why not…I think he would work it out pretty quickly. That little bit more room at times and his pace – certainly he has turned into a smart footy player too.
"It wouldn’t take him too much to adapt to a fullback role. The role wingers play these days, they play with fullbacks. They’d be learning off that anyway. He is a quick learner as well, and he could make a success of it.
"Having said that, I believe that his best position is on the wing."

Can someone explain how we are able to make an offer to JAC? He is still contracted to the Storm for next year therefore wouldn't we have to wait until November before we could approach him? Has the Storm given him permission to look else where?

btw, I certainly would want him at WT for next year, just not sure how we would be able to negotiate.

Too easy, thank you.

So at the end of the day WTs can do as much negotiating as they want, if the Storm are unhappy with whats on the market we just have to suck it up as usual.

Fingers crossed the changes to the NRL roster value really do spark some major player movement.

It’s interesting, isn’t it, how do you get a suitable replacement for (arguably) the best winger going around?

Tricky thing is that they need 2 wingers with Vunivalu also going.

What if they don't get a suitable replacement, are they going to force JAC to stay?
That won't end well for them.

Talks wouldn't have progressed this far without an outcome determined.

Really, they've known for at least the last year that both wingers were going to leave. I'm sure they've been looking and have various options in place.

Lara Pitt said yesterday on NRL 360 that the Tigers have offered an initial $550k salary, which would increase through bonuses based on his appearances at fullback. So, either he plays really well at fullback and keeps his spot resulting in a salary around $800k (which is fullback money), or he returns to the wing and is being paid $550k. I'm happy with both scenarios.

I cant imagine that that would be correct. I cant imagine a player or agent would allow a contract like that where you can reduce a players salary merely by picking him in a particular position. How would it be administered, what stops the club from rorting it? What happens if he gets moved mid game? How would the club budget for salary cap?

So you think if JAC is playing well at fullback the club will intentionally move him back to wing just so they can pay him less? Really??

An incentive based contract is exactly what we should be offering him. The exact details of which are for his agent and the club to determine.

I don't understand this. JAC has an agreement to move on next year with the Storm. They can go and get an alternative player.

Sure they can stop this deal going through but they won't.

Ahhhh, that's quite a bit different to @TigerWest's summary of the Bellamy comments. Maybe he should read the news a little more carefully if he's going to quote it to others? Just a thought.

I actually stated that Bellamy said JAC would make a fine FB and he did.
Was only trying to assist. But maybe read the news yourself to get the full details.

He also has a **contract** with the Storm, so how does a reported verbal agreement superseded that? And according to the forum the Storm want the other player first, before they will let him leave.

My point was WTs will be beholden to the storm during negotiations, a position that the club should try to avoid.
Josh may well have already agreed to terms in principle, but he won't be able to sign anything until the Storm release him from the final year of his contract.

It's just not an ideal situation, in saying that, I can't remember the last time the club has been in a strong position for player recruitment so nothing new.

No it's not perfect but the rumor is we've signed him. I have no idea if we've signed him or not but I'll leave that to the club to sort out. I assume that we aren't dealing with the Storm but with JAC and JAC deals with the Storm. We don't know any differently to this. Like I said earlier this isn't about contract law. Sure they can keep him but they won't because they will look bad.
