Can someone explain how we are able to make an offer to JAC? He is still contracted to the Storm for next year therefore wouldn't we have to wait until November before we could approach him? Has the Storm given him permission to look else where?

btw, I certainly would want him at WT for next year, just not sure how we would be able to negotiate.

So at the end of the day WTs can do as much negotiating as they want, if the Storm are unhappy with whats on the market we just have to suck it up as usual.

Really, they've known for at least the last year that both wingers were going to leave. I'm sure they've been looking and have various options in place.

I cant imagine that that would be correct. I cant imagine a player or agent would allow a contract like that where you can reduce a players salary merely by picking him in a particular position. How would it be administered, what stops the club from rorting it? What happens if he gets moved mid game? How would the club budget for salary cap?

So you think if JAC is playing well at fullback the club will intentionally move him back to wing just so they can pay him less? Really??

An incentive based contract is exactly what we should be offering him. The exact details of which are for his agent and the club to determine.

Ahhhh, that's quite a bit different to @TigerWest's summary of the Bellamy comments. Maybe he should read the news a little more carefully if he's going to quote it to others? Just a thought.

I actually stated that Bellamy said JAC would make a fine FB and he did.

I don't understand this. JAC has an agreement to move on next year with the Storm. They can go and get an alternative player.

Sure they can stop this deal going through but they won't.

He also has a **contract** with the Storm, so how does a reported verbal agreement superseded that? And according to the forum the Storm want the other player first, before they will let him leave.

My point was WTs will be beholden to the storm during negotiations, a position that the club should try to avoid.
Josh may well have already agreed to terms in principle, but he won't be able to sign anything until the Storm release him from the final year of his contract.

It's just not an ideal situation, in saying that, I can't remember the last time the club has been in a strong position for player recruitment so nothing new.

No it's not perfect but the rumor is we've signed him. I have no idea if we've signed him or not but I'll leave that to the club to sort out. I assume that we aren't dealing with the Storm but with JAC and JAC deals with the Storm. We don't know any differently to this. Like I said earlier this isn't about contract law. Sure they can keep him but they won't because they will look bad.
