‘The club is expected to soon turn its attention onto Josh Addo-Carr, who wants to move to Sydney next season for family reasons. Wests Tigers have a four-year deal on the table, but he won't be released unless a suitable replacement is secured. Given the Tigers don't have a player they are willing to offer in return, Canterbury and South Sydney could be options for Addo-Carr, particularly given Reimus Smith is a player the Bulldogs want to trade.‘

Our refusal to trade anyone might just cost us his signature. Not sure we’re in the position to play hardball

Sorry, we are willing to give him a top level contract, why would we give up a player we won't to keep as well? That puts his price too high for me.

Because we need top talent.... whoever we will be giving them wouldn’t even be close to JAC’s level. If it’s the only way to get him then we have to at least entertain the idea. We are not in a position to let top level talent walk on by yet again.

Not if they don't want to be here anyway.

Sounds like he does, it’s Melbourne blocking his way here.

He has a desire to play at Souths

Weidler saying he’s agreed to join us and waiting on a release. I’m sure he would like to play at Souths too but he’s happy to be here.

I never trust Weidler's info.

I'm not saying he won't be here, but we are not his 1st choice, you do not give up a player if you are someone's 2nd or 3rd choice.
>**Weidler is a germ but his info is normally solid**

If we were his last choice but we could still get him I’d do it. He’s that good and you know he’ll give his all on the field

Since when? Never much of what he says is solid.

When people have other preferences that will at times use you as a stepping stone to get to where they want to be. The absolute worse case scenario for us is we give up a player and then in 12 months a position becomes available at JAC's first choice club and he starts agitating for a release. That is the risk you take when you take people when you are not their 1st choice.

This is good news. We don’t have the cap space to take the chance on a converted fullback at 750k a year. Losing young players on peanuts like Talau who is a starter is a double blow as you can’t replace him for the same money.

If true I would be trying to get Nick Meaney hugely underrated player. Treated poorly at the Dogs he’s the best fullback at the club.

I. would like a current Kangaroo, SOO player and premiership winner. Keep your Meaney's and DWZ's at the Bulldogs.

Meaney can play and would be a better goal kicking option than anyone we have. Fox is a gun but he’s a winger if it’s huge money it’s a risk we can’t take and lose a young player. It’s all relative.

What, Joey Leilua is on what $500k? Paying JAC $750k is a bargain. He's three times the player Leilua will ever be.

How many wingers do the roosters, Storm pay 750k? Losing a player we want like Talau on $250k and having to pay 450k to replace him makes zero sense. This is the issue it’s not in isolation. You will then spend 1.1m on a centre and a winger taking a punt he’s a fullback.

It could work but it’s the type of wild punt we can’t afford. BJ, Reynolds, Packer contracts have no relevance to doing a deal for a new player.

I’d pay Fox the contract we proposed any day but it won’t happen that way. He will want big money whether he plays wing or fullback and the Storm want Nofa or Talau.

I've posted it way back, recruit JAC and Saab. Nofoaluma to Storm.

If you release Nofa it will kill the culture of the squad. Have to keep your own that perform strongly. We should learn from past mistakes.

The losing culture?

Any culture he’s not the reason we are losing. Look at the best teams they never let performing players leave if the dollars are reasonable you have to keep your players. If not the next time someone comes good they leave. Loyalty goes both ways. It won’t always work but letting Nofa leave would be stupid. He’s the heart and soul of the club atm.

I like Nofa and he had a good year but I’d be going to him and saying, here’s a new deal on the same money, with incentives if you play rep footy and finals. We need more from you in the big games. Sign it now or it’s off the table. We can’t be mucking around wasting our time with upgrades when nobody, including him, is earning one.

He’s early an upgrade no idea what he’s on but 450k 3 year extension I’d offer tomorrow. Probably less than he will get elsewhere but it should be the way for long term players.

My point is, If we can’t lock up guys like him and Aloiai on team friendly deals, we’ve got no hope. You need your supposed loyal guys to just sign on and play good footy, not squeeze us for every drop.

And the club should also offer what they are worth in a show of good faith.

You are worth what somebody is willing to pay, and some clubs like it or not have much deeper pockets than us, if Nofa is being lauded by us for his love of Tigers he needs to play for a bit less at this club. Brady did it for years in the NFL, and look at his record.

Who gives a rats about what Brady did in the NFL?

Tired of people quoting crap from the NFL - this is a Rugba Leeg Forum.

It’s THE most famous case of a player in a salary cap sport playing for less than market value. Tedesco and Andrew John’s did it too (apparently) if you must have a RL example. Point is, these ‘loyal’ WT Nofa and the like need to behave like it if we’re to get out of the doldrums

Rubbish - he is worth the money he is getting and deserves an upgrade.

I would not blame him for leaving if the Club adopts your attitude. They can afford it easily, revise JAC offer to winger money only or see ya.

JAC is SOO and a Kangaroo. He is also a current premiership winning player.

Nofoaluma has been well renumerated by WTs. If he wants more, that is his prerogative to leave.

Well looks like the Info is spot on that there is a 4 year deal on the table but the WT won't release a player that the storm require. Storm playing hard ball but that does not surprise anyone suppose that's why there an elite club.

I have no issue with the WT playing hard ball back...

Only Nofo or Talua an option and really if both players don't want to leave that's there choice, rather have players that are here already and want to stay.

Longer this takes to sort out the less chance we are and Souths will be ready to pounce... I am getting annoyed with the Storm a little now.

Agreed mate, either he wants to be here, which it means he can sign a contract for 22, or he doesn't.

LATEST: Following the grand final win Josh Addo Carr has told his manager Mario Tartak that he in open to staying with the @storm for another season. He does have a heads of agreement with Tigers. Preference is to come home staying put an option again. @NRLonNine @9NewsSyd

If we lose out , it will be because the storm screwed us around , until everyone else moved thier pieces to get that in the game . Maybe it’s all reindeer games , because we have a contact on the table for grant , if cam goes around again .
In MLB , the off-season has been exactly like this , no activity until the top players sign (CAM announces his intentions) then it’s a feeding frenzy , and signings fall thick and fast . I would say this is what’s going on . A lot of pieces are being moved on the chess boards .

Weidler is a germ but his info is normally solid

If we were his last choice but we could still get him I’d do it. He’s that good and you know he’ll give his all on the field

You have that risk signing anyone though especially at our club. You have to make sure they’re welcome at the club and love it here, look how much Harry loved his time here. Not every player is out to use as as a stepping stone and do us dirty by screwing us

When you know you're not the 1st choice it is not worth the risk of giving up a player. We are not JAC's 1st choice.

Well If we’re only going to sign players who want to play here as their first Choice we’re going to be running out with like 3 players next year.

Or maybe he is prepared to play another year with the Storm until South's are in a position to sign him 2022

Souffs are trying to move heaven and earth ..
Roberts ...gone
Allen ... see ya
Lowe ..medically retired ..
And with the Storms not being able to get there ‘like for like’ deal done I’d say addo Carr will go another year with Melbourne to go to his club of choice being souffs .

That's the way I interpreted it too - but time will tell.
