Jackson Hastings #251

"He'll be somewhere in the 17 and he'll potentially play both of those positions."

https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/jackson-hastings-wigan-warriors-nrl-20288948

Sounds like Mbye mark 2, in not being able to lock down a position(not knowing what his best position is), if he is unable to do this in SL it doesn’t auger well in the NRL, if he was to return Blore would hopefully be recovered & a few from lower grades will be pushing for inclusion so I don’t see the value in him

Yep and a clown to boot ..least Mbye is a good bloke

So a mate of mine who's a massive Wigan fan has good mail that George Williams is heading back to Wigan effective immediately, hence the immediate release by Raiders. Be nice to get Hastings out here this season.

The whole Man of Steel means nothing argument is so ridiculous. Would you prefer to get a player who was never the best player in the SL?

I would prefer to get a player that was never so rubbish that they had to go to the SL to continue their career.

- John Bateman was second in the man of steel in 2018, only lost it cause Barba had a freak season. He killed it in the NRL.
- ***All of the Australians who have won it came back and killed it.***
Didn't see Gavin Miller play, but he won it in 1986, then won Dally Ms in 1988 and 1989.
Jamie Lyon came back and won Dally M Centre of the Year 2010-2011.

That award is no joke.

The award isnt a joke, its awarded to the best player in the SL. The standard of play in the SL is a joke.

When Gavin Miller played, it was in the off season of the NSWRL. Gavin Miller didnt miss a season for Cronulla 1986 - 1992. He also played for Hull KR, 1984-89. He never left the NSWRL, never missed a season in that time.

The only reason Jamie Lyon played 2 years in SL was because he couldnt play in the NRL because of his contractual dispute with Parra in 2005 and 2006. As soon as that was over he came back, at the peak of his powers to Manly and tore up......

You say ***ALL OF THE AUSTRALIANS WHO HAVE WON IT CAME BACK AND KILLED IT.........***

REally?

Adrian Vowles? - Never came back and spent 7 years over there.
Brett hodgson? Never came back
Pat Richards? Came back and was rubbish
Rangi Chase? - 12 years over there, never came back
Ben Barba? - Never came back
Jackson Hastings/ Time will tell

Your post basically reinforces everything I said. It is an extremely substandard competition and does not improve your standard.

Bob Fulton, Peter sterling and many others learnt the finer points of the game in England.

Josh Reynolds getting man of the match in his 1st game tells you everything you need to know about the quality of super league

Do we still think Hastings is the answer?

He was man of the match for us in some of the few games he played.
Answer is still yes.

Jackson....Hastings?

Having trouble with comprehension?
Reynolds was man of the match for us a few times in the limited games he played... but wasn’t the right type of player for our team.
Just because Brooks doesn’t throw us under the bus in one game doesn’t mean we should trust him to be able to do it all year.
Hastings at worst keeps pressure on him.

You’re using the same excuse we have been using for Brooks lol

So what type of half fits our team? It’s not Brooks obviously, Reynolds wasn’t the answer either

It’s Jackson Hastings?

A bloke who can kick the ball.

I think that Doehi is the perfect foil for Brooks and what's more has the temperament to settle Brooks much better than Hastings ever would. I think it's about a 25/1 chance on Hastings coming to Wests Tigers.

isn't he already signed !

lol Hastings was the name thrown about. It could have been anyone half decent. The reasons people wanted Brooks dropped weren't about two games. People had rightfully questioned whether after 150 and zero top 8 placings he was the guy. Don't let facts get in the way of a win though!

Do you think DCE is better? How does he look without Turbo? The strike weapons make a half look good or bad. Brook's created many opportunities yesterday that were wasted by his team mates.

A half controlling the middle is doing a specific job. He decides if the team should attack up the middle or to get the ball wide to a playmaker or strike player on a side if see sees an advantage in numbers. He is not there to singlehandedly win the match.

Ok so now its his outside men who let him down.

Love these type of comments lol.

The DCE point is salient however. DCE plays the games of his life in Origin, can't remotely back it up at club level because his team is thin. **Manly close to one of the worst teams going around in 2021.**

This comment has not aged well.

The reality is some of the best halves and forwards have come from Super League. It is a very attractive game. The crowds are huge, and it is expanding at a fast rate,. The NRL has gone nowhere. In 10 years we will be the poor cousins. Take your bias out of it, it is a game that producers classy footballers, not just muscle machines. Do not underate there competition.

Relative to the game here, it was a higher standard of play in those days. Regardless, m point was in response to a suggestion that "all of Aussies who won the Man of Steel over there came back and killed it".

As I pointed out, its no where near true.

It is a very different style of game that is not focused on defence but for almost 50 years the UK game has been weaker than the Australian game.I doubt that will change during my lifetime.I certainly dont underestimate their competition but you seem to be overestimating it.
You have to go back to the early 70s to find a time when England/Britain was capable of beating Australia in a full competition series including a World Cup
