Whinging about Hastings while defending Brooks. Fmd. Some of you guys are so used to mediocrity you enjoy it?

I don't get this. I'm all in on Hastings. I also don't listen to the dribble about Brooks being the sole reason for the Tigers not making the finals or the one guy who has to go if we have a dud season.

I think it's more the posters who qualify so many of their posts with Brooks is the problem. It's dumb.

I can see Brooks being moved on this season and I'm fine with it. I just want to see it happen based on form.

He has been given a long time to make the team his. We can't keep relying on him. Need to wipe our hands of the experiment and move on.
I dont hate Luke, when he stayed with us and the others left I was over the moon. A change to another team might give him the kick he needs.
Even benj said he coasted for a few years.
That's the attitude that needs to be [censored]ed right off

Pretty spot on mate, I don't hate Brooks either and I'm sure he offers another team some value and needed experience however I feel moving forward he probably isn't the guy we need him to be.

Who knows with Hastings alongside him things may change however in his time at Tigers and with many different styles of halves partners and coaches, NONE have been able to get him playing as well as the team needs him to. Of course there's other contributing factors **however when the curtains finally draw to a close on his career making zero finals will ppl care about those factors? Fans and critics will only care about how many finals appearances or titles he has won.** If by that time both columns read zero then it's fair to say his career was a failure.

He said prior to last season it was his team and his time to shine yet we saw the same deer in the headlights from previous seasons. Moments of great bookended by lots of below average. With Hastings beside him hopefully he can just concentrate on the things he does well and not have to worry about being the voice directing the team around. Maybe then he will reach loftier heights.

Maybe they will look at the club as a whole as the problem as the club has made the finals 3 times in 21 seasons.

I'm not denying the club is a major factor however if you look at all the years since Brooks' debut with the club you can pick a number of matches in each of those seasons where a better version of Brooks wins more of those gamesa and we make a few finals.

What about goal kicking tho

We only just really nullified that problem last year but now he’s injured (Doueihi). Didn’t we literally lose 3 games in 2019 by 2 points or less? I vividly remember marsters missing a goal infront vs Penrith and we lose 10-9

We end up finishing 1 point outside the 8

I’ll keep saying it. Look at the long line of players who have left and gone on to immediately play finals. As if Brooks couldn’t at the right club.

At the right club maybe. Throw him into Souths next to Cody, Melb next to Munter or Roosters next to Keary with an abundance of other talent around him and quality systems in place and I'm sure he'd see success. Most middle of the road halves would in those teams.

Throw him in Knights, Dogs, Cows, Dragons etc and you'll prob see the same sort of Brooks we see at Tigers.

As you would with most middle of the road halves. Which is what he is. If you replace him, you will only be replacing him with another middle of the road half. Because we are a middle of the road club (that might be generous).

*“Our combination is slowly building and it is pretty exciting.

“He sort of plays that on-ball style like a traditional No.7 and I can just roam around the park and play what I see.*

I was kinda hoping it would be the other way round

He's more than welcome too.
It's not working here.

So you're happy to keep him his entire career, continuing to play at and average at best standard without trying anything different? The entire team has rotated around him as well as coaches. He's the only constant (not including Nofo, that's another argument). Unless there's a serious turnaround this season it'd be best for both parties he finds another home.

One of the major factors is he's never really had any pressure to keep his position in the team. He's been able to coast along knowing he's probably the best option the club has and it seems that's good enough for him. The inability to attrack an alternative that is better has probably been another which is on the club not him. If he had Madden or another young half banging on the door screaming for selection then maybe we'd see a better version of Brooks.

With the direction the club is heading recruit wise and a number of talented juniors coming through, surely this season is his last opportunity to prove to himself and the club that he is the answer.

It's not just him though. That is the thing. Your comments are also the sunken costs fallacy in reverse. It's too emotional for the Brooks bashers.

Pick the best team.

Back on topic. That Hastings article is great. I can't wait to see him in action.

I'm all for getting rid of the under performers.
Our club has given them a career for far too long.

That is right. My personal opinion is I'd have Hastings and Doueihi as the halves. That to me is the best option.

The thing is Hastings and Doueihi have to earn those spots on performance.

Brooks is under pressure now but so are Hastings and Douiehi. Our club needs to win games. We need to be looking to win the comp.

Totally agree.
Yeah everyone in the team is under pressure including madge. My point is when AD gets back and Brooks isn't performing, he gets dropped. We need that accountability. To many of these pricks are just happy to be playing nrl and not trying to win a trophy. It shows in the 1% plays.

How about the Winning Players (Premiership winners even) that have come to the club and we STILL couldn't win.... Or play finals.
Even back before the Brooks played for the club.

This place is going to boil into a pulsating mess if Hastings doesn't fire...
Be interesting to see how many excuses he gets?

It will be, “well Brooks has had years of excuses, so if it’s ok for him it’s ok for Hastings”. It will be a form of whataboutism. I don’t think anyone would own up and say he hasn’t lived up to expectations. It will get turned and twisted.

I totally agree. My personal preference is AD and Hastings. I reckon those two could be absolute weapons for us.

The thing is I also thought BJ and JTJ could be gun centres for us. Mind you BJ was fantastic in one trial.

Not if Hastings kills it. That changes the picture significantly.
