Jackson Hastings #251

ESL is good footy... A. Different game I enjoyed watching when. I had foxtel... We had two ref's they stuck with one... They had. No where near as much wrestle we did

Strange why backs don't do as well as forwards out here

The reality is some of the best halves and forwards have come from Super League. It is a very attractive game. The crowds are huge, and it is expanding at a fast rate,. The NRL has gone nowhere. In 10 years we will be the poor cousins. Take your bias out of it, it is a game that producers classy footballers, not just muscle machines. Do not underate there competition.

The ESL is dying.....money has dried up, salary cap is AUD$3.2M or less if they think you cant afford it, crowds are dwindling. RL is in a very poor state in England.

Things were looking very positive I thought with Toronto joining - unfortunately covid smashed them badly.
I think their average crowds are not a good metric to go off, as there are some tiny clubs that might get crowds of 2,000. On the other hand the big clubs like Wigan, St Helens, Leeds etc are always well supported. Doesn't help that one of the best supported clubs, Bradford, has been stuck out of the top flight for a few years.

I hope Toulouse can join Super League, as this will provide a French derby. Catalans have done well, but Toulouse is a much bigger city than Perpignan.

lol Hastings was the name thrown about. It could have been anyone half decent. The reasons people wanted Brooks dropped weren't about two games. People had rightfully questioned whether after 150 and zero top 8 placings he was the guy. Don't let facts get in the way of a win though!

Do you think DCE is better? How does he look without Turbo? The strike weapons make a half look good or bad. Brook's created many opportunities yesterday that were wasted by his team mates.

A half controlling the middle is doing a specific job. He decides if the team should attack up the middle or to get the ball wide to a playmaker or strike player on a side if see sees an advantage in numbers. He is not there to singlehandedly win the match.

Ok so now its his outside men who let him down.

Love these type of comments lol.

The DCE point is salient however. DCE plays the games of his life in Origin, can't remotely back it up at club level because his team is thin. **Manly close to one of the worst teams going around in 2021.**

Leeds and Wigan crowds are down 10% from 10 years ago. Leeds are the biggest drawing team (pre Covid) and they average less than the Wests Tigers.

>Doesn't help that one of the best supported clubs, Bradford, has been stuck out of the top flight for a few years.

The 5 years before Bradford dropped out, they averaged 9766.

I hate the way Toronto were treated. More should have been done to keep them afloat. Their introduction to the comp was one of the best things to happen to Rugby League in a long time.

Why would Brooks need to go to Canberra Wests Tigers have roster spots and cap space to accommodate Hastings..

I dont know anything, but I can imagine a scenario where Canberra want to get rid of Williams, Tigers want Hastings, Williams wants to go home to Wigan...

Canberra will let him go if they can get a replacement they are happy with (Brooks), Wigan will let Hastings go if they can get a replacement they are happy with (Williams) and Tigers will let Brooks go.

In that scenario, all three parties would have to know and the first domino to drop would be Williams immediate release. If Tigers didnt let Brooks go, Canberra dont let Williams go and the whole thing doesnt work.

Not saying this is what is happening, just I can see the logic in it (I dont see Hastings as a suitable replacement for Brooks...yet).

Pretty sure Williams has already been released by raiders effective immediately, due to him refusing to appear at training or something...?

The ESL is still sticking to a tired promotion / relegation system and small town/crowd teams in the top flight. I agree they need Tolouse in to build the game in France. They also need to look at keeping your strong teams, such as Wigan, St Helens etc and amalgamate or move some of the lesser teams. They probably only need 10 teams, two of them being French based sides.
