Must remember to implore myself to care less... ***I’ve actually played footy at a pretty high level*** and for the life of me can’t see why people blame our lack of attacking penetration and threats through entire-field passing tactics and even aerially, on Jacob.

Youve played footy at a pretty high level and cant understand the difference a hooker makes to the attack? Thats surprising, but here we go.

Good flowing attack is dependent on the ball receiver and supporting players running at speed, in position, eyes forward, hands out in front. The pass to the receiver needs to be out in front, chest height so he is running onto it to give him maximum time and distance from the rushing defence.

As soon the receiver has to stop and catch it above his head, or stop and reach behind himself, he stops...all teh support players need to stop and kills all momentum and reduces the time before the defence gets to him.

Get a room you two.

Tiger boy are BENNY ELIAS

More likely to be Mrs Liddle

Knock it off.

Liddle is our starting 9...his passing this year needs to improve slightly to be NRL standard,it will come with games under his belt...Mbye is a utility that has to fill in as per Madge,he is not a SPECIALIST hooker like Liddle is...Simpkin is the future 9 for our club,he isnt ready for FG yet...Madge will be the judge of that....

I'm on the fence with how Lids has played so far.

Last year, from what I can remember, his service was rather crisp😱k_hand:

This year, it appears to be less so. But I think it has a bit to do with how flat our attack is.

Our 1st receivers(especially the 1/2s) look flat footed when getting the pill. And at times it appears he's passing to where a traditional attack would be(at depth) rather than the flat line that the team is setting up at.

Change in attack style maybe?
Not sure what's going on TBH but it's either Lids or our structures
that need improvement. Or maybe both lol

Liddle is fine
It’s the nuffies running onto the ball that needs to improve..

What about those nuffies and plodders who run onto the ball but don't receive it 😳😳 got to get them decoy runs

Or the bloke barely moving having to catch the footy at their ankles or a metre above their head ?

Jacob is in a very good position Atm he is fit and getting back into form , his contract is up this year and if this injury free period continues I certainly see interested parties knocking on his door .
I have not seen enough of Simpkin to evaluate if he is the viable replacement if Jacob moves on.. Potential is one thing NRL weekly is another but you would think the younger option moving forward would be the clubs option .

This is part of a story about Magpies reserve grade side coach Ben Gardiner's comments on Jake Simpkins highlights why Liddle is first choice hooker at the moment.
He’s a fella that wants to learn the game and he wants to improve his game,” Gardiner said. “He’s very diligent for his focus points week to week, the specific things that will make him a better player, as are all the young guys that we’ve got in the team. The interesting thing for Jake, and all our young guys, is how little footy they played last year. It’ll take a while for them to hone their game, get their match-fitness and just get used to playing footy again But he’s been really impressive with his diligence and his preparation in getting better on a weekly basis.”

After everything he has been through (double shoulder reconstruction, then ACL, MCL, PCL damage in one tackle), it is just so good to see Jacob back playing rugby league. He is now a couple games off 50 in the NRL which is a massive achievement in itself.

His service was better today, did his job well.

He busted his arse today ...
Shame the plodders around him didn’t

I found it interesting that he was off the paddock for so long then that's the way Madge operates .. Mybe is useless as a dummy half .I thought he played well actually .

Yup he did well. The limited minutes seem to be helping him, hence Mbye coming on at hooker. Has been better when he's playing less minutes

We are loads better with him on. Could see him doing well in a lock-type Connor Watson role in time, assuming Simpkins comes good.

You know what? That may not be such a bad idea.

I must say that is a good option moving forward certainly bodily wise and speed wise could be a master stroke with Jake at hooker .

Simpkin deserves a crack but Mmbye has played ok so not sure what to do

Put Mbye in centre in Talau’s spot. Talau needs more time in state cup to learn what type of player he is.
