Jacob Liddle #198

It seemed at the start of season Madge was hesitant playing Simpkin due to the unknown of how he would hold his own in defence. I’m not sure Liddle has been a force in that area. He makes his tackle but has no drive.
Liddle’s service isn’t the best, think his bulking up has affected his crisp passing game he had when he was younger.
Cleary our forwards are lacking energy.
I can understand trying an alternative to this.
Seeing how Simpkins looks playing with experienced players.
Madge kinda hinted at the start of the year that the hooker role wasn’t set in stone.

This is what’s surprising though.
Liddle against the cowboys.
57 tackles 1 miss.
5 runs for 45 m
1 try assist
1 line break assist.
Play the ball speed of 2.66s (quickest in the side).

Is there a ball playing lock in the making?

One cold knock on, one forward pass, 20 missed tackles in the preceding 4 games. 90kg wringing wet. No

Simpkins hits and drives in defence as well. It’s humble pie I have to eat , but he’s clearly the better prospect , and I was ? wrong about Liddle . It’s a real shame . Hopefully at the dogs next year he can turn his career around .

I'm seeing a swing back to a quality hooker and a lock or bench player who can come on and help roll the middle. Simpkin and Liddie would work well together. Kind of like Farah and Halatau.

It's a real shame our coach sees Moses mybe the guy who wants to play elsewhere as his secondary hooking option.

Jacob certainly hasn't been at his best. It will be interesting to see how Jake goes.

I definitely would've dropped Nofo. His performance was worse than dismal.
Even if we had no one better to take his position, sometimes I think it is necessary to drop a terribly under performing player in order to give that player a reality check.

I would have liked to have seen Tuki get a run. I think he could make a good lock with some experience.

And Amone should have had a start off the bench. I know he is underdone, but I'm sure we would have got as many minutes out of him as we did out of Captain Plodder last Sunday

I actually expected a side to roll through the finals last year copying the Farah and Halatau model. Just never happened.

Hi Jacob,

Please look after yourself and go and join another club.

You do not deserve the indignity of being the only person to blame for last weeks rubbish.

The coach has shown you where you stand, you are not part of his solution, go and sort out your future mate. I wont hold it against you.

You are an NRL player.

Cheers,

The Patriot.

Hope he finds himself a new club. His service from dummy half has been awful all season. I’ve said it for years that he’s not up to NRL standards. Throws so many slow loopy passes that either go behind the player or 2 metres forward

Dropping Liddle was the right move. It's not that the loss is his fault, but he is rough in his passing and his organising is poor. He also lacks the speed he has when he's playing off the bench. I think he's a big reason the attack has looked patchy this year. But Liddle's effort has been good and he's a decent hooker worthy of a first grade spot somewhere. Hopefully Simpkin continues his good form. All that said, the big issue is that this team needs to tackle better and I don't think that Liddle is a scapegoat or anything for this team.

I think we got Liddle from under the Rorters nose when he was playing for there feeder club on the Central Coast but as we all know injury stuffed him up.

Just on Liddle
How do people think he wood go in the halves
***He can tackle
He can run
He can pass***
He is fast off the mark
Not sure if he can kick but can't be any worse then what we have dished up of late

Has anyone given that any thought
Shoot me down

What would you suggest are the reasons he has been dumped from hooker?

It may not be the case he has been dumped
It could be that Simkin has been killing in reserves and deserves and opportunity to show what he can do in 1st grade
They all have to get a start some time
No time like the present

His service out of dummy half has been very poor the last couple of weeks. I supported him all preseason, but the last 2 weeks he has had issues.

Sorry just dont see it.

i saw one of the few players last week who were having a dig.

On a day when most of the squad didnt even turn up you dont drop and blame a guy who actually tried.

His defence is ok, his running game and passing game not so much. Can throw a decent long ball but he's not getting our forwards on the front foot the way a top 9 should.

Starting player is playing average, reserve grade is killing it so reserve grader is rewarded and starting player is dropped. Isn't this what everyone wants?

I doubt Madge dropped Liddle and said 'you're the one who cost us the game'. He's not being made a scapegoat at all

Nofoaluma should’ve been first dropped

For who? Kepaoa who played wayyy worse?

Remember when multiple people on here said we would be better with Liddle compared to Grant? 😂😂😂

Grant wasn’t that crash hot .. even last week .

He smashed it last week? Instant impact when he came on the field. Either he or Smith will be massive for Melbourne off the bench.
