Jahream Bula #269

Bula can play the running style of fullback and there is no better example of that when he ran around the Knights' centre to score. He also has the ability to play second 5/8 as per Hodgson. With Pearce Paul, he now has the option to receive his passes in traffic as per his try against the Eels. He is our most dangerous attacking player which is highlighted by the attention he receives from defenders. With Doueihi now in form, he provides another facet of attack from his second phase.

Bula would be hard pressed to find a coach who is more sympathetic towards his style of play.

Look closely and the space we were getting on the right was because of Bula threatening and drawing in defenders. Once we have Taylan and Luai back you have multiple running threats that will open the left and right in attack. It can be counter productive as it will require more discipline playing the correct side in attack, it can also look very clunky when it doesn't work, however once it clicks it will be a thing of beauty.

The problem we have is a player like Clint Gutherson is on $900k at the Dragons and he's definitely not worth that sort of money. We haven't made the finals in 15 years and we're coming off the back of 3 wooden spoons. We're always going to be paying overs for players.

On today's game, 2 tries, 188 run metres, 52 post contact metres, 2 line breaks, 1 line break assist and 1 try assist is not a bad return at all.

If someone has an idea for an alternative option, I'm all ears, otherwise I think we need to try and retain him at $900k, particularly given it's an option we added to his current contract

The thing is he's worth more to other clubs then us

I would pay him
800k in 27
825K in 28
875k in 29
950K in 30
1.1M in 31

Average out at 910K over 5 years
