Jahream Bula #269

big preseason needed from Jahream. if we’re going to do anything of note next year we need him to grow another leg.

I’m backing him in. supreme talent.
Yeah, he is potentially our best all round player.
Seems to drift in and out of games too much and is a tad too relaxed presently.
Light a fire under him, improve his ball playing and our try tally will certainly escalate.

I agree. needs to put the hammer down at all times. Luai should help considerably with his development.

probably not the thread for it, but we need Pole, Twal and Seyfarth along with Bula to find another gear if we’re going to see a significant change in fortunes.

Not sure he'll have much of a preseason as I think his surgery puts him out of contact until some time in the new year and in doubt for the trials.

Yep everyone keeps talking up the new arrivals and rightly so…however if those already here don’t step up to meet them, we won’t improve much.
There are several guys already here that can give more.

it’s a 3-4 month recovery and he went in for surgery mid August. he should be back into full contact before Christmas.

I've had a labral tear before and I think 4 months is very ambitious for full contact. Thurston had the same injury. Hope you're right though.

His average return metres may have been down as they tended to kick to our small wingers. This should change with Skelton and Tureva on the wings in 2025. He improved well towards the back end of the year before his shoulder injury and should work well with Luai in getting put through the gaps next year . I do not think he is running any harder he just looks like he is a David Peachy style of runner that looks like he is taking it easy but is actually deceptively quick.

In my opinion, his return meters are way down because he lost his confidence. He always looked to past first rather than take the ball back himself. This cost us return yardage as well as very risky passes in our red zone.
Hopefully next year he will be much more confident with added body strength after a full preseason. If not, a Centre positions awaits. This kid has the ability to play anywhere but might just need to regain a bit of confidence.
