Jahream Bula #269

If Bula is worth 900k, how much is sua faalogo worth? Based on tigers rates, we'd probably be paying him $1.3 - $1.4m. I wonder what the Storm are paying him?
Probably not that much. Considering he is a junior and I believe now is the nominated fullback.

At one point Cameron Munster was on 800k. Munster could walk into a 1m+ contract fairly easily and possibly get 1.2.

I would suspect Faalogo is on unders. I was thinking 400-600k, but could go as high as 800k.
I kinda doubt it. Storm want to keep him because he is a Melbourne boy. But they will be paying way under market value.

They may have him on way under according to the NRL and the salary cap, but the reality of life is that his total package would match his worth on the open market.
Agents aren't there for decoration, it's a business and no agent is gonna take half of what he can get elsewhere.

I love how people on here think they have a clue what the players earn.
Agents only take 5% of a players salary under the cap, but 20% typically of third party deals, so how do you think they prefer to structure salaries?

You really have to be living with the fairies to think any player agent isn't getting his client, and himself, the maximum possible.

When Latrell signed with Souths for "unders" he made multi million dollar property purchases in the next month.

Now people think Haas signed for "unders'.

It's so dumb to believe that.

Who has said Haas has signed for unders? The narrative has been that he would be on the same or very similar money.

He also can’t tackle . Every time the eels made a break nearly to a man Sua got beat , not just one on one , but really easily. Ina game like last night , it will be a lot of “Wows and he’s amazing !” , but Paps and Obviously slater before him , were amazing in cover defence and organising the line .
I think people should reserve judgement until a close match . Because his defence is honestly not much better than Heath Mason a year ago . I hope it’s against us , because we can get in behind the line pretty often .
I’d be concerned if I was apart of the storm coaching staff . Sometimes a 50 point win can hide heaps of things .
Also the eels edge defence is a joke , especially around thier edge backrowers .
The knock of Kautoga was always his defence and his reads . He hasn’t got there yet .
I’ve seen witches hats tackle better than Faalogo.
Brian Kelly wasn’t much better and he’s been a decent defender throughout his career.

Agree, his defense was very ordinary.

Well Adam Reynolds did.

Heck Wayne Bennett talked him out of joining us. Grrrr
Can't wait till we face and beat souths again.

No he's not far from teddy at all. Teddy had 90 games with us not 50.(where bula is at now). It was only until late 2016 early 2017 that teddy really began to show his stripe
That is 100% false. How about the meltdown when he signed with the Raiders before he reneged in 2014? It was 2014 that he announced himself.

Timing of teddy leaving aligns with all the drama in the back of house. 12 years later and we risk losing another fullback because of the same BS
Jahream is not in the same class as a young James Tedesco.
In saying that we need to re-sign Jahream unless we replace him with a better player in Jaxon Purdue.

Hes not, but thats not really the point

We potentially lose another quality fullback because of internal politics.

If he does decide to leave it will be because we are not offering him the money and length of contract he is looking for, nothing to do with internal politics.
It’s very obvious that Jahream ideally wants to stay and if he does look at going anywhere else it would only be to the Bulldogs or maybe the Sharks.
He will not get the 900k to 1 million per season he is looking for at the Bulldogs or the Sharks, so he will be taking a cut if he signs with either one of them.
If Jahream plays very well and in his first 4-6 games this season we will offer him the long term contract he is looking for and he will re-sign with us.
Alternatively if he does not live up to expectation in his first 4-6 games this season we would not be offering him a big money long term contract and he might depart, that’s if these other clubs are also not put off in making him a decent offer if his early 2026 form is not to a high standard.
Would you be agreeing to sign him for 5 years on a contract very close to 1 million per season right now, or would you like to see him earn it with his form early this season ?

As I have said many times before, are we just hopeless at developing players or is Bula just a slow learner.

For God's sake we have a top line ex fullback as an assistant coach, what the hell is wrong.

I know many have questioned Hodgson's ability as a coach in the past, but surely he would have to be looking at Bula's game and pointing out at least some of the short comings in areas of his full back play.

Maybe he needs some help from Billy Slater minus the grub plays of course because as a Wests Tigers player he would never get away with that. 🤣
I would have slater in over hodge every day of the week , he was good for us but slater was world class and seems to know his stuff , slater had a huge part in Melbourne’s attack moves , he and Cronk / Smith made most of them up , Bellamy run with them , slater is very smart operator

I just wish Bulla would make a call , I feel it would be better for him and our team , get it settled either way then also our coach can work on a plan if Bulla decides to move on , I’m not fussed if he goes as I feel ( my option only ) $ 900 k for him now is overs , plus we have offered up 2 contracts - 2 years or 4 years , and he is still undecided , I hope he is not holding out until another club clears the deck for him , just feels wrong but that’s life , but we do need to know asap for the team and plan for future fullback weather that’s buy one or promote one

He was ready to sign a contract with us in december.

We are now in march.

He didnt have a change of heart in december because he wanted more money, it was a result of what was happening at the club.

I have two sources incredibly close to this situation, where are you getting your information from?

Do you believe everything that is reported in the media ?
Are your sources telling you that the only reason Jahream did not re-sign with us in December was due to concerns about our board ?
Do you reckon Jahream would know the names of the board members that were removed ?
It’s 💯 certain if we offer him 1 million per season until the end of the 2030 season he will re-sign straight away.
Are you prepared to offer him that, or is it better to wait and see if he can prove he is worth that type of contract with his form early this season ?
